If no one seems excited try this telling it to an UNjaded noob. saying 100k accounts is more impressive than say 2k accounts.

(of course I still want a customer count vs. accounts)

Zap, i was actually thinking about doing that earlier today.. but i decided to leave it alone in the hopes a newbie would gain that honor.. i think they might enjoy that. :)

The number varies slightly depending upon which web server you hit. They all cache the number every so often but their schedules aren't perfectly synchronized so some servers will display an "older" number than others. Also, the number can go backwards when we ban accounts, or people close accounts.

Even so, we'll hit 100k pretty soon. I'm seeing 99,912 residents right now.

Not sure what all the hype is.... the real important figure is how many active, paying members there are, and I've never seen more than just a couple of thousand online at any one time.

Then, take out those who aren't really "there" but just sitting in camping chairs..... my guess is that there's about 30 people playing at any given time.
