This is the obligatory notice that a secondlife IRC channel exists on EFnet (IRC stands for internet relay chat, and essentially is just that.) - The channel is #secondlife, and is located on irc.efnet.net You can use a few ways to connect; the best method generally is downloading a client onto your computer, there are a few availible, I've listed them below. Another popular option is to connect via the web. You can use http://chat.efnet.org to connect in from a webbrowser. Popular IRC clients: XChat - www.xchat.org (Windows, Mac & Linux) mIRC - www.mirc.co.uk (Windows) You can also use GAIM or Trillian to connect in. Anyone else having troubles with it? I know Cristiano will want to take a look at it if it's broken. I refer people to that place to access #secondlife because it is so easy so it would be nice to make sure it works right. I believe it refuses to load the java applet. _____________________

Check it now and see if you can connect - I also just changed primary servers, as the one I was using before no longer seemed to work. I will put in a few backup servers on the drop down as well. If you don't believe in censorship of your fellow SL citizens, there is an alternative SL IRC chatroom on EFnet called #freesecondlife
The #freesecondlife stands for freedom of expression in SL. All SL residents and LL employees are welcome in the room to discuss any topic of interest to them. You can even share your lobster bisque recipes if you like as we do not censor or control what you say. You will have no fear about speaking your mind in this channel and will not be punished by the chatroom ops for saying anything controversial. There are a few rules that must be kept to ensure that the room can be accessible to all: no flooding, no spamming. Other than that, as long as you are not keeping others from using the channel for talking about SL or whatever they wish to talk about (like keeping others from using the channel by pasting page upon page of irrelevant text from Moby Dick or typing random characters), then anything goes. Of particular importance, even people that are banned from SL (those perm-a-banned from SL, like for crashing the grid maliciously, are not welcome as they are no longer players of SL) will have a voice here even if LL wishes to silence them or put them in a 7-day penalty box for whatever reason. I'll assume that you mean the people you don't agree with? Understood.  Anyways, I didn't want to make this a bitching match. Actually, Hank, I know you're in ultra defensive mode and all, but I think LF just meant that given what you said would be permissable in the channel, that it's unlikely to be a very productive discussion environment. But alternatives are good. So I hope it works out for you.
