Hmm...what if all of you store owners just hired *real* employees to guard the stores, help customers and eject/AR scammers? It would create great job opportunities for "real" newbies.

..and "real" protection rackets. :)

Heh, that's not at all what I was thinking. I was just suggesting something along the lines of a floor salesman, who would walk around assisting customers with legit purchases from vendors, for a weekly/hourly/daily/whatever salary in L$. The mere presence of these legit salespeople would most likely deter scammers.

I understand it looks wrongs, but sadly that is how system works.
Ah, that makes sense. At first glance I was certainly not pleased with the connection that seemed to be there. Thanks for clearing that up.

Ah ok, i understand. When you rent land at a Island, the land has to be deeded to your group. So you have to invite a officer of Azure Island to your group, so they can deed the land to your group.

It's sad to see that innocent people are already being affected by this.

Oh, my apologizes in advance to the Azure group. I'm sure that's what happend here after reading your post. Thanks for making that clear, I'll edit my posts to refect this.

A personal shopper assistant... as at Nicks in London... yes why not.. I have seen such before in SL but it dissapered - prob as in income of 150-300 L an hour compared with IRL.. hmm... water and bread as dinner week after week can become booring:-))

like I said I am new and was unaware that was against the rules. unfortunately the title will have to be altered by someone else as I tried and was quite unsuccessful in my attempt

Nicolinia, please do not apologize. I want to thank you for at least trying to warn other citizens about this. The small trespass for naming a name is nothing compared to what these nimrods are doing to new people. And yet, unfortunately, your post will be immediately policed while the scammers only have to run out and make another free account to continue stealing from newbies -- and thereby directly harming the SL community.

Another example of a great Lindens' business decision.

So, you are admitting in checking the box "I have read the TOS and want to proceed" when you started SL for the first time?

Where in ToS does it say you can't name names? This is a forum only thing. And as with most LL rules, it fluctuates and varies depending on which Linden is speaking, the wind direction and other factors.

You know this just baffles me, it is wrong to give someone's name but it is ok to rip people off and steal their $L.

Well just a warning this scam is still going on. The same person tried to sell me a house yesterday, fortunately I caught on and said thanks but no thanks.

Obviously, the LL enforcement efforts are having their normal impact.

Zero.

I think it's tragic a new player has to be introduced to SL this way.

How many Abuse Reports need be filed against this idiot before LL takes some action? He was doing the same thing in my store last night. I IM'd him only to get a bunch of F@CK-OFF's.

Does LL even care about SL anymore?

SL seems to be favoring scammers over legit business people and players.

Tonight myself and 3 others were scammed by R--- R---. Basically he said that if we paid him he would give us a discount on the merchandise. We paid him and went to a sandbox to try it out and when we got back he was long gone with our money. Being new to the game I didn't know that you should only buy from objects and not from people. I just hope other people who are new will read this and learn from our (costly) mistakes. We did report him and the shop owner was also contacted so hopefully some action will come of this.

:( ! Ugh, sorry to hear this....Not a great way to start off SL. I know how aweful it feels to be scammed like this :( As I've been several times in other games as well ... Plus the new restistration system will only make this problem worsten . Really sucks that there are people in SL like this (as are averywhere else) ...All I can say is try not to trust too many people in situations like this as it sounds like a scam in the first place. I will definitely be banning this dude from our land, but not sure how effective that would be (multiple alts??)
Also - look at their profiles and their background info... If its a new account they are on (date of registration) and no info in their profile dont trust the f**ktard for even a second. Also check out their other shops and how professional they seem etc...

Oh well, good luck.

In the light of this, I hope you will be CONFISCATING his property in Azure Islands (Orion sim, Tearless Group) without refund. Even if he returns as an alt this would seem to be the only course of action that will have any effect on him personally.

It doesn't say you can't name names. The forum rules say you can't start a thread with some one's name in the title and that you can't use the forums to solve an interpersonal dispute. All too often, though, the moderators jump in when they don't need to. If Joe Resident ripped you off, you can't start a thread with his name in the title and you can't start a thread trying to get him to reimburse your money. But you should be able to start a thread to notify others of his bad behavior. Usually our over zealous monitors close those threads down too. That's what happens when they don't really know the rules they're supposed to be applying.

Please direct all comments\questions and concerns to myself at nexusnash@gmail.com rather then just making a quick post on the forums and having to retract your comments later. I don't have to say that we do not support these types of actions, however being in the same group as someone 'questionable' is far from 'helping' this person achieve their goals at the profit and expense of others. If you have questions or comments please don't hesitate to IM\email(nexusnash@gmail.com) or PM myself.

No offense meant Nexus, and no aspersions were cast on other group members... it was simply a request that the Azure Islands management confiscate the property of this individual as the only recourse available to impact him personally.

To the people who have sent me items in game, I appreciate them very much. As I said I was unaware of the rules in this forum where you can't name people directly. I am not discouraged by this but it has definately taught me to be more careful in my future purchases/dealings. Thank you all once again and I hope to see you as it appears that this is not a common occurance in this game.

I got scammed by this guy, then today he tp's me over to sell another skin as compenstation. I go there and it's place called S****. There were many people there and there I got diconnected and when I connected back there he was again and I could hear them talking about making alts to do this. Sadly they saw me and did something that put me back at my home.

The people there were A**** DaSilva and P**** Chowderhead. They were in a group called Mai Tais Security. So check all those names n add them to ban cuz they are all involved in this scam!

[edited out the names of people and palces, but it can be easily got if u look at his profile n follow his groups].

Maybe you should get yo facts straight before spittin' off peoples names - you are a complete Liar, you can't just name people and their groups because they are shopping in the same area that you get scammed in... ain't my fault you got scammed

You don't even know me... where is your proof that Adriana or myself was ever involved? Go get a Linden to investigate this so you can stop draggin my name and Adriana's name in the mud. Look at my skin and my clothes and my tattoos... I shop at Made Men, why would I scam anyone at my favorite store?

Like I said get yo facts straight and don't be a liar. You know darn well that we and Mai Tais had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS - So you can Edit your post and remove our names from your weak attempt at startin' drama. K thx.

This is ridiculous... you are ridiculous for pointing fingers

Closed for Linden Review

From: Forum Guidelines
Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc.

Torley Linden:
This thread will remain closed. The forum Guidelines are available to read. It isn't solely "naming names" that's a problem, but what predictably arises out of it--these very personal disputes. Time and time again. Even if there are grains of truth, the heated anger in the forums tends to bury them. :(
