Removed original post since problem has been worked around while a resolution is worked on by LL.

I've confirmed this personally--looks like the first snapz it broke on happened to be one of my wedding pictures! It happened so suddenly and I am getting in touch with the right Lindens and supplying the info Ano gave... wish I had more details at this time but as I didn't hear any preemptive info about the changes, plus, this is a general problem as Postcards themselves will have that odd image of a bridge in them (Snapshot_026.jpg), it looks unintentional as a bug. :(

Linden Lab has made a breaking change to the postcards during an update today, and unfortunately none of the images can be recovered from the postcards that are being sent because they are attached incorrectly. Until Linden Lab fixes this problem, all pictures will be lost. I am working as quickly as possible to get this resolved, but until then, I hate to see any pictures lost and there will be no way to recover the images sent. All images since late afternoon have been lost because of this problem. It sucks that a lot of SL valentine's day images are being lost, but there is nothing I can do to resolve it until they fix the problem.

Ok crisis averted for now, I managed to find a way to handle the problem until LL can resolve it. I was able to recover some pictures, but not all - and I have not cleaned up the screwed up ones yet, so excuse the mess. I will keep an eye on it - if you notice any problems, feel free to send me an email at cristiano@sluniverse.com. Hopefully this will be resolved very quickly tomorrow.

UPDATE FROM KAREN:

From: Karen Linden
An update to the postcard system was made today which inadvertently caused the images in Second Life/Snapzilla postcards to no longer be correctly embedded as "MIME " attachments.

We are working on a fix for this issue which will be deployed as quickly as possible on Wednesday.

All but one of our Valentine's wedding pictures sent to Snapzilla were lost :( Good thing I saved several as textures, but I'm wondering if there's any way to send those images to snapzilla. I was trying to create a wedding album.

Thank you Cristiano and also, Torley (who had also just married SL love, Jade Lily), for working so hard to fix this issue. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's Valentine's Day pictures!

Yeah, we should have all been happy with the alpha release of SL. That muscle-beach animation rocks.

All the constant updates annoy me.. if i don't want a new feature I shouldn't have to download it and suffer on one of my 2 days off (after working nights 5 days in a row) with the downtime.

Give us the option. Stop constantly small updating. Get rid of the resmod program.

Actually, part of the update was planned, I have been aware of it since before version 1.8 came out and had already programmed in support for the change whenever it happened. The single change was supposed to be the inclusion of the Z coordinate in the location information. Apparently, this update was applied a week ago and went as planned, but then got overwritten by a system update. When it was reapplied yesterday afternoon, the resulting postcard format was different than expected - the main filename of the postcard changed, its position in the postcard changed, and a picture of a bridge was attached to each postcard.

These are all bugs and will hopefully be resolved today, though I am now dreading the resolution as I have to fix it all over again. I will watch very carefully today to try to stop the processing as soon as any update happens in case they don't notify me in advance - if you see any problems with the site, please email me at cristiano@sluniverse.com or IM me on Yahoo - my id is in my profile here.

I feel for ya amig0, but updates are necessary to keep moving forward. I'm guessing here, but LL probably looked at traffic patterns and employee availability before making their decision. I'm getting better performance out of 1.8 that I have out of any other version of SL, and its much more feature-rich. Hopefully LL can continue to address some of the performance issues that others are seeing through these upgrades.

Regards,

-Flip

Then they can make a feature where all future updates are patches and the grid isn't shut down.

I'm fine with the current version..don't shut me out because others want more.

I don't think the filename changed, the email just has a whole bunch of extra attachments. My old postcards are named "secondlife-postcard.jpg" and my site which also accepts postcards was not affected by this change (though now I am expecting it to be broken by the fix). Are you just hardcoding which attachment number the postcard is?

You know on seond glance at old code you are right, it didn't change - I was scrambling with a bunch of stuff last night and thought that it had. In the email component I am using, I can't extract by name, but I can pull out the attachment by position. In a year and over 53,000 postcards, the position has remained the same so it has never been an issue -and was not an issue in the original update last week, only the revised one yeserday.

Hey Cris - The change/look at pics from a previous date pulldown feature doesn't seem to be working since this problem.
