I'm aware of at least 6 AR's done starting in July, mostly in the Welcome Areas. It would be nice to see something about them, even stats, like:
AR's Investigated, deferred: 31 AR's Investigated, no formal warnings at this Time: 20 So we'd have some sense that something happens with them. |

I know at least one AV banned since then after being AR'd, and at least two from before that time that dont' show. I say again that the blotter is not an all inclusive resource of whats going on wtih AR's or the ramifications resulting from them and should definitely *not* be an indication of the effectiveness of AR's.

Here's an idea for a feature....statistics for the Police Blotter. Torley Linden mentions here:
/139/bd/118789/1.html That if we want more info on all AR's to show up, we should propose it. Right now not all show up there for whatever reason. I'd like to propose that there be a sub-page, AR stats, if it's not practical to write a blotter article for every AR or disciplinary action. Listing how many AR's were filed by region, and maybe broken down by type. Since you have to choose a type when you submit it, they should merely need to write a query to populate it, taking no person-hours away from other tasks. Ideally it could also be broken down by status: - filed - under review - awaiting responses - closed or whatever is appropriate to their internal statuses of AR's. The impression that at least we get the raw numbers of what is happening would do a lot to ease the worry that AR's are being ignored. |

Not usually my preferred approach.
Seems to me, though, that I read somewhere something from somebody official that all the things don't necessarily end up on the police blotter, especially when they are from new unverified acounts, or something? coco _____________________

What we need is a city overlay map like in SimCity. That way we could view bling versus griefer density, say.
Oh, and those little R/C/I meters would be nice too. |

Sarcasm is a push people away negative behaviour. True sarcasm is poetry. This is more like a Hallmark card. Well, at least you beat Lewis! Is this public knowledge now? |

I'd like to make a proposal, but wanted to know what people wanted to see. I was thinking a database query that just displayed things like: - Total AR's in each sim - AR types - Numbers on status of AR's This might have the advantage that once it's built, no one has to manually maintain it, as Torley seemed to indicate they don't have much time to keep up with more manual reports.... |

What's the point?

I've never read the Police Blotter. I never understood the need to do so. I can see why it exists but it seems more like a National Enquirer type of thing. Also I thought it might be a way of greifers to get attention.
We get papers from Boston and New York in my office. There are a couple, can't recall which right now, that have these "blotter" type reports and try to be cutesy about it. I don't know I guess there's a market for it but it seems like amusement at someone else's expense. It's not like ooh there's a serial killer on the loose, close your windows, lock your doors and bring the dog inside type of a thing". Oh wait I get it, it's one more thing to bash the Lindens with, I suppose. _____________________

Seems to me, though, that I read somewhere something from somebody official that all the things don't necessarily end up on the police blotter, especially when they are from new unverified acounts, or something? A couple of people have already posted the link to my question on this. It's also worth reading the link within that to Daniel Linden's replies in another thread. I managed to ascertain there's a lot that doesn't appear on the blotter, including the most reassuring stuff: griefer alts that get permabanned for starting trouble right out of the gate. Liaisons and Customer Service Lindens have been striking down some of them VERY quickly. Their accounts are quickly terminated. and this: With the Police Blotter, my understanding (and this is subject to change as abuse reporting gets ameliorated--this is also being worked on!) is that every disciplinary action with a specific "Description:", which goes further into details, appears. However! That is *not* all disciplinary actions. You can imagine with so many cases to review, certain violations can get repetitive (e.g. "R-rated text in profile" , so when applicable, there's copy-and-paste involved, or the Description doesn't get filled in. But! That doesn't mean the violation was any less serious: it simply means it doesn't appear on the Police Blotter, which, as you know by now, isn't fully comprehensive. It's worth following the link and reading the whole answer though. I think they could improve on the communication on this one. Even changing it from 'the most recent 25 actions' to 'some of the most recent actions'. The wording does imply that is all there is, and apparently it's not. Most importantly, Daniel Linden states in the other thread linked to, that the functionality doesn't currently exist in the blotter to include expelled persons. edit: for those who can't be arsed backtracking for the link, here it is: /139/bd/118789/1.html _____________________
