I just read this quote from B Linden Re. the April Fools message ( that arrived a day late )
"Outside the United States? No clue what all this tom foolery is about? Visit Wikipedia's page about the time-honored tradition of pulling one over on your friends, family and the residents of virtual worlds every year on the first of April."
What arrogance !
Do you really think April Fool's day was an American Invention ?
It was being celebrated in Europe and Asia before anyone knew America existed.
(Just because you have commercialized it - doesnt mean you invented it - Jeez )

Yes I do actually
I dont like being told by someone to go and look something up just because I am not American and probably do not understand your customs - especially when they are not your customs to start with.

Every schoolboy knows, April Fools day can be traced back to the Priest Kings of Atlantis, whose most famous joke was of course the sinking of the island to annoy their subjects.

It wasn't a day late if you were in the U.S.

It never amazes me what some people will get worked up over. I'm pretty sure that not everyone on this planet is familiar with the custom and the link to the Wikipedia entry might be helpful for them.

From: TacoTacoBurrito11ONE Queso it wasnt implied that it was an american invention.
"Outside the United States? No clue what all this tom foolery is about? " What exactly does this imply then ? Because I am physically not present within the United states that I have probably had some rellapse of my memory ? That there is a new condition floating around that causes memory loss when outside of the states and crudeness when inside ? ( I refer to the 1st part of your reply ) (edit) Yes I agree that not everyone may know about it - but is that any reason to add the 1st part - Not American ?

(Just because you have commercialized it - doesnt mean you invented it - Jeez ) It was just information for those who didn't know what it was. Obviously it didn't include or address you, because you are just too smart.

From: nimrod Yaffle Oh.. My... God.. hahahahha!!!! I find this disgusting, you people are pigs. And the OP is totally right about arrogant Americans IMO. Your just proving it by being so insulting when someone gets rightfully upset at your conceit.

From: Boliver Oddfellow good lord I hope the last post by Dianna was sarcasm. otherwise good god ladies take some chill pills It wasn't sarcasm. In fact I reported both of the posts. The first time I have ever reported post in almost a year of being on the forums. I know TacoTaco whatever is probably just a stupid alt, but it was a crude, insulting and demeaning comment that was way out of line. The OP had a valid point and even though she was upset, she presented it in a civil enough fashion. She didn't deserve that juvenile BJ crap in return.

I'm quite used to many things being an 'american invention' when in fact many have been round for hundreds of years before the damn country was even invented.
One day the UK will reclaim its colony. You'll start using real money again, drive on the left side of the road, and speak proper english like wot I does.

I think the Linden was just trying to be nice, for anyone in other countries who don't have April Fool's Day. I myself don't know what other countries have it or not, because it's just not really that big a day. And is now - thankfully - over!!!*

(Just because you have commercialized it - doesnt mean you invented it - Jeez ) How about Africa? South America? does EVERY non-American country recognize April Fools day or is your own arrogance ignoring the other non-American countries and assuming of course he was talking to you since he didn't specify which countries would know and which wouldn't? And funny he didn't specify who's time honored tradition it was you were just in such a hurry to start American bashing you falsely attributed an invention claim to him.
