The Point
01-21-2006 14:28
The point of this post was not to discuss, review or even entertain how dwell is gotten. It was also not to bad mouth anyone for any actions. Plain & simple this post was to ask in general,

YOU BELONG TO A GROUP, THAT GROUP RESIDES ON AN ISLAND, THAT IS ALL THEY HAVE. The group busts their asses, thought they were following the set rules.

They get visitors, a large amount of visitors, a very huge amount of visitors, and this is verified by their traffic numbers and placement on the POPULAR PLACES LIST. The reflected dwell payments are huge. In the past with less dwell, they have placed on the incentive award list. Now they have their best month yet, they have a month of 24 hours a day 7 days a week average of 50-60 av's on the island, peaking out at over 90. They work very hard to have a nice place, and to have entertainment for thier guests. YES WE HAD ENTERTAINMENT! YES WE HAD A PLACE TO SEE! YES AV'S CAME TO GOLGOTHA FOR OTHER THINGS BESIDES "FREE MONEY"!

Then the list is published, and NO WHERE is the owner of the ISLAND mentioned? NO WHERE? How can this be, just tell me how can no showing be on this list.

Ive always found Lee polite and Ive had to talk to him many times.

Like most other people, Lee's as polite as he's given a chance to be. I find that being polite when asking for help usually gets you a polite response, whereas demanding that the world be stopped NOW to fix your problem tends to get short shrift.

Not accusing anyone of that of course, but it is something I've seen in world too often to ignore. If you find Lindens to be less than polite, perhaps it's time to take a deep breath and think about how you phrase things. I know that can be hard too if you're frustrated.

Anyway, not to hijack the thread... I'm sure it will be sorted in time. Good luck.

Unlike many areas with "zombies in camping chairs", Golgotha was, more often than not, lively and exciting, and still managed to maintain a friendly conversationally motivated environment of shared experiences. These are just some of the many reasons that Golgotha was one of the most popular and outstanding places in all of SL.

I can attest to the great atmosphere at "Golgotha". I loved that place. I am still searching for a SL place to hang with similar qualities but no luck yet. Somehow I doubt there will ever be another "Gologtha".

Sammy! I know you remember me. Just want you to know I am on your side and wish you well with this issue.

Support for Sammy
01-22-2006 02:33
Hey all,

Just wanted to support Sammy; the amount of work required to make a place popular enough to reach the dizzy heights of the Popular Places list and the DI is huge and not to be recognised for this is a real kick in the teeth.

We run a small Slingo club and I can tell everyone its hard work and you don't make money out of it, if you can please let me know how!!!!

Its hard enough to get traffic upto 10000 let alone the 80k+ that the Gun Club & IceDragons attain.

Good luck Sammy,

Lee

Sammmy, I was seriously answering your question here. I'd lay odds on LL being able to find mistakes in every month's worth of dev incentives they've payed. It has to either be a mistake in their the code, a misunderstanding on your part about how the calculations are performed, or someone at LL just doesn't like you and took you off the list.

They're combing through it now apparently so you'll have an officialy ruling on the first possibility sometime this year.

THANKS FOR THE LAUGH! I hope you correct sometime this year will be soo great! : )
as for the being polite i never raised my voice, was rude or even acusatory, if you knew me you know that is not me! Like I have tried to say over and over, getting the dwell this not about, politeness this not about, peeps actions this not about, dirty tricks, camping all that this is not about. Plain simple, I BUST MY ASS TO GET GOLGOTHA WHERE IT WAS! lol just SHOCKED, totaly shocked. As time goes on, things do pass, oh well I know we made number 1. My guests had fun! we Entertained, we had things there to do! Most of all I am PROUD of the job my hosts did, PROUD of my friends and guests that had FUN! We did it, proves anyone can with hard work and determination, we made number 1 most POPULAR PLACE in all SL! With or without incentive award placement, I KNOW WE DID IT! Thanks to all that understand this!

I agree 100%, I seriously wonder how the Lindens can remain calm, just going on a few LiveHelp calls. Come to think of it, all the Lindens I can remember talking to have been polite.

That is in fact the reason that DI is being discontinued... and those who use camping chairs/dance pads only have themselves to blame and nobody else.

When systems get gamed and abused, they either have to be transformed or be taken away. Its a damn shame that so many felt the need to game the D.I. and dwell systems. You know what they say about "a few bad apples..."

This has been a long time coming. The rating system suffered a similar fate when people abused it to get the benefits of a premium account without paying. Paths such as these all culminate with one thing if everyone starts doing these things: no money for LL, and ultimately, no SL for anyone.

Is it a shame? Definitely. Am I surprised? No.

Regards,

-Flip

thats exactly my point. and the individual complaing about their bonus is one who blame for it. someone mentioned they do a great job keeping in the list by working hard? and hows that when all they had was a crapload of dance pads? hard work? i don't think so. lazy and a lil greedy? just a tad.

The chairs are probably the root of the problem, but I see the problem the Lindens are having are the SIMs are now filling to capacity.

A casino on a plot of 1024 can bring in 40 campers and keep other land owners from getting to their paid for land.

They wanted places to be popular, but they didn't plan on them being so popular that SIMS would fill up.

Home owners in a SIM next to us have moved because of this problem, and selling their land is still an issue, who wants to buy land that you are unsure of being able to get to.

I was able to get DI this month without running any camp, usually 20 or less people on our land at one time.

It is bad enough to get blamed for lag on SIM for having 20 people at our place, I couldn't imagine the hassle for us as well as Linden Lab if our neighbors couldn't get to their mall or have people able to shop there.

Hopefully Lindens are working on something.
