Linden Adjustment 10

Just saw this in my transactions window. WTH? I get paid 50 for my stipend, and then they take 10 away?

When was this implemented?

Why was I not notified?

Why did I not get to vote on it?

I thought there were no "taxes" in this game.

I saw this one mine a while ago too, but it was $25, I shrugged and moved on. I actually have no idea why it happened (to me, nor you), but I would be interested why it happens. Also, if you were to vote whether a Linden could take money out of your account for a decent reason, would you still vote yes?

Check the finances of any groups you belong to. If outgoings>income for your groups, each member gets deducted L$ to cover it.

If it's any consolation, the same thing happens when they give you money. :P

Hmm, I've always had those come up as "group liability" (I think, tho I could be wrong).

Yeh I think you're right, though I have had things not correctly labelled show up in my transactions before. *shrug*

I was just about to ask a Linden, but he scuttled off to a mall to spend 10L he had unexpectedly been credited.

Does it show up the same in both in-world account transactions info, and via the website?

In essence, land tier fees are property taxes.

Most things the lindens charge for could be considered a tax (ie. membership fees, image upload, rating fees, group creation fees, etc.)

I notice you took considerable pains to emphasize the word "game." If it's just a game, what's L$10 matter?

It's just a game, after all.

So that's where that extra 10L came from. Thanks Heuvadoches. :)

For months I've been getting arbitrary small (< L$30) charges with no further detail than "unknown transaction" for which I can find no further detail, nor have I any idea what it could be as I buy almost nothing, sell almost nothing, and am not stupid enough to give PERMISSION_DEBIT to objects handed randomly to me.

I don't think there's any reason to expect that SL accountancy is any less buggy than the rest of the system, nor do the amounts warrant my caring any more than to note it here.

Introvert... do you not get enough detail here:

https://secondlife.com/account/transactions.php

I find this list much more useful then the in game one.

What Keiko said. The in-world account history is pretty much useless, and causes me many, many, many headaches in trying to explain transactions to people. The one on the web is actually detailed and accurate.

PLEASE ADD A LINK TO THE WEB BASED TRANSACTIONS PAGE IN THE WORLD MENU OF THE VIEWER, LL! YOU DO IT FOR LINDEX AND OTHERS ALREADY, HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

That would save me hours per month. Thanks.

Normally I would not agree with this sort of thing and vehemently oppose it, BUT since you put it in ginormous 7pt red font, you've got my vote sir! :D

You wouldn't say that if you were playing Monopoly.

Actually, heh, I remember a situation where I said just that while playing Monopoly. I mislaid one of the tiny, colorful Monopoly bills, couldn't find it, and shrugged it of as "just a game." I found it under the couch the next day, though.

Somehow, I'm not going to find that 10L under my 3 prim couch.

What we have here is a difference of two things, Enabran.

1) Income

and

2) Opinion

Opinion differences are inevitable and for this arguement, moot; therefore, I'll concentrate on the first point.

When one doesn't have 100 stores scattered across Hell's Half Acre, one's income potential is rather reduced.

As it is, I currently live on camping, tips, Ginko interest and a meager stipend that is (for all I know) 10% of yours. My store makes enough to pay for the stall rent, that's about it. Everything that I've gotten in this game, I've clawed, scratched, scrimped, and waited patiently for.

It's very easy to say "Forget about it" when (like Bill Gates) it's not worth your time or effort to pick up that USD $100 that you dropped on the sidewalk. Yes, I'm bitching about something that's worth < USD $0.01, but if this is a bug, then everyone has the right to know about it. Especially if it's COSTING PEOPLE MONEY. I'm sure you'd be right in here raising holy Cain if it was you...oh wait, it'd have to be a significant amount....nevermind....let me guess... "Acceptable Losses" right?

Do you own land? if so check in about land, Options and see if there is a check mark in the 'list in find places' as that cost 30L a week
