OMG OMG OMG Get Rid Of It Please!!

You can get a list of folders and you cant open them unless you go back to the top of the inventory list and scroll to find it, so the search feature is crap.

You can search for an item by name and can't access the other items in the folder.

When you delete your search term there is a scroll to the top.

When you take an item into inventory, your inventory scrolls to the top.

WHO CAME UP WITH THIS SYSTEM!? DID ANY LINDEN WHO ACTUALLY SPENDS TIME INSIDE SL ACTUALLY USE THIS INVENTORY SYSTEM FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS?

Did the top secret member advisory group that was summoned to San Francisco test this new system and grant a seal of approval?

Please get rid of this....NOW!

From: Torley Linden In another thread
UPDATE: The following inventory bug fixes--and more!--should be included in the next new version of Second Life:

* "Show all folders" filter should be off by default for "All items" tab (this is the "every single damn folder is appearing when I search!" problem)

* During inventory streaming, every single folder expands when alternating clicks on All items and Recent Items tabs

* Focus is lost on a selected folder when search query is deleted--all folders expand instead

* Items in folders given via llGiveInventoryList have inaccurate acquired dates

* Receiving or moving inventory expands all folders when "Show All Folders" is not checked

* Deleting any inworld object you own expands Trash folder and obscures Recent Items tab view

Both server and client code will be deployed; therefore, a new viewer will be required to access this version. Release notes will be available on Monday pending the final verification of all features.

Please share this with your loved ones and friends who are also affected. There are more bugs we know of too... like the "Scrollbar repeatedly resets to position of first search match when it's streaming or when a Friend comes online" which has to do with focus not switching as expected. These will be fixed ASAP too.

Any other bugs that aren't nailed down to the floor and squished (in a gory Stephen Kingesque fashion), please use HELP menu > REPORT BUG to send a solid reproduction of the steps you did to make it happen.

I know what a hunger there is for information so I wanted to share this right away; I'd feel so guilty if you guys didn't know relief was on the way soon. :/

this should help

I search for "prickly shorts", but cant' see contents of "studded thong" folder, click on it and it flips me back to top. Oh well, I'll just wear my birthday suit until the inventory gets fixed. Hmmmm, looking for my "birthday" folder now:)

Katy's right. The old inventory method was klunky and awkward, but at least it was reliable. Now when I try to use inventory I feel like I'm trying to squeeze jello. I put up with the old way, but I honestly hate the new one.

Hate it, I tell you.

while there at it why not get rid of every other new feature that some one has a problem with.

If we follow this logic to its logical conclusion lets get rid of second life all together since every new feature introduced some one has had a problem with.

I would liken it to a car manufacturer developing a powerful new abs breaking system, but forgot to put the wheels back on the vehicle. Great breaks, but the car is sitting on blocks.

You know, I really don't think it was a design goal for every damned folder in your inventory to expand when you put on a piece of prim hair or pick an item up from the game world. I also don't think it was intentional that their replacement for the "Show All" button doesn't work most of the time, meaning you have to manually clear out the search box- and depending on how you do it, most of your folders end up expanding then as well.

The decision to make empty folders show up in searches- and to make that behavior the default- AND to make it so that you have to reset your filter settings every time you log on, just seems damned stupid, and I think people have every right to complain.

I've no problem with new features, provided they add some value to the product. In the case of the inventory modifications, they've only added headaches.

I do like ONE function it has now...I love the fact that when you finally do find something it stays there until you're finished with it...but yep it takes ten times the amount of time to find things now and get to them...sigh

Indeed but they have acknowledged that there are bugs with the new inventory and they will be fixing them.

but just like everything else in these forums when something like this happens People continue to go on and on and on about it even after they have acknowledged the fact that there is a problem and a fix is in the works. like beating a dead horse

zOMG inventory!

Had to get that out of my system. One thing I did notice about the new inventory: it probably would have been perfectly functional (and seemed like an improvement) for someone with a small inventory. Of course, it should have been tested for someone with a huge inventory, but my guess is that most Lindens are WAY too busy to have huge inventories. In fact, most of the non-liaison/Community Team avatars are pretty ... dated looking. Why? They don't have the time to update!

I'm glad they're addressing this quickly. Its been a hellish week. Maybe we should just all get naked until the next patch, cause I sure can't find any outfits to change into!

Regards,

-Flip
