Second Life 1.10.3 release scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, 2006

Second Life 1.10.3 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, June 14, 2006. The update is scheduled from 7am PT/SLT to 12pm PT/SLT. During that time a database restart is required, which means the secondlife.com website may be down for a short time as well.

Both server and client code will be deployed; therefore, a new viewer will be required to access this version. Release notes will be available on Monday pending the final verification of all features.

Here are the tentative release notes for tomorrow's update.

Bug fixes:
* Clearing inventory search keeps the current item/folder selected
* Receiving or moving inventory no longer expands all folders
* Searching under All Items only shows folders containing items searched for, by default
* Adjusted LOD based on resident feedback
* Added additional octree toggles in the Debug menu
* Fixed a performance issue cause by texture paging
* F1 Help no longer crashes on the PowerPC Mac in fullscreen mode
* Fixed an issue with the Mac autoupdate utility
* Resolved a simulator crash related to scripts
* Resolved a client crash issue

Linux client alpha fixes:
* Resolved a bug with inventory searches failing
* "L$" appears correctly in front of the L$ balance
* Accelerator (shortcut) keys should work correctly

In my original posting about the release Wednesday, June 14, I was not explicit about grid downtime.

The grid will indeed be closed during the update, including the previously mentioned database update. As usual, the update window is from 7am SLT to 12pm SLT.
