I would like to suggest a new Item be built into Stores, welcome areas or where ever! A changing room that cannot be spied apon! One of the most fustrating thing about being new and getting big boxes of free clothes is that many of them should never be worn in public and you rarely know what should be tried on That and changing often leaves you exposed while the new clothes are appearing... Me I just teleport home now until everything shows up where it should be. But wouldnt a teleport to a changing room skybox that would be hard to find be a welcome addition to any shop or area where new players gather? Someone could earn a lot of customer loyalty and I would donate to that effort like I dontate money to new players!

Some stores do that already. For example xCite's main store has a room for trying on your new attachments, with pose stands for adjusting them.
There is no such thing ANYWHERE in SL as a room that you can go to and not be spied on, however. Not unless you own your own sim and make it private and hidden, and restrict access only to yourself. Anywhere else, someone can always walk in, or mouse a camera in, to spy on you. Walls, doors and locks and fancy security systems still won't prevent an SL 'peeping tom' who is determined.

Yes some stores do but the target I am looking at should be new people. We have money trees that are in several spots so I am sure that someone can build a sky changing room that they would be willing to share with a posing stand or stands.. low prim. Like I say the usefulness and people could advertise this service.
All that would have to be solved is how to keep people out while in use, I'm sure a simple script could be made.
How much would it cost to have me commission something like that? Knowing that I intend to give it away to every store and land owner that would take it in the hopes that these things would become more common than money trees.

Yes and I used to fly out to the middle of nowhere and go underwater but its still bruising to your dignity when someone else joins you there. Believe it or not I would like to make new people feel good about their first experiences in SL.
We hand out long list of ads and money trees why couldnt changing rooms be on that list too?

I agree that trying on clothes and skins in public is a bit...traumatic for some of the shyer of use. I was pondering this after the opening of my new store that I should have added changing rooms. I didn't...but I plan to. Bare Rose actually has two small changing rooms, and I have seen one or two others as well. However...there is no such thing as a place that can't be spied on in SL...well...except a hidden sim. But at least some bare minimum of privacy can be offered.

From: Taco Rubio or we could get over being SL naked. Very true. But that is something that takes a bit of time for some of us. I certainly am not offended by nudity, and it does not embarrass me to see someone else changing or getting naked in public in SL (or RL for that matter). But, I am a tad bit more self-conscious myself, and am painfully shy. So its nice to have that option of privacy for those who may not be quite so far along in their journey to shedding the restrictions and limits of this illusion through enlightenment. =P

thats why I was thinking sky box at variable heights.. it would make it at least more difficult to spy... but I am still too new to know

Can't be done, yet.
The best you could do would be a high skybox with a very agressive security script that would prevent anyone from aproaching within 100M radius or so, other than the person who was using the box. And even if you did that, someone could hover 101M away and still spy on you. Plus, that method almost screams "look in here!" to nosy people, and is sure to generate complaints from people who happen to be casually flying by at that altitude, and who get ejected from the area by the script, quite possibly while not yet on your land (An AR reportable offense).

There have been several features request proposals for methods to screen off a specific area so no one outside it can detect what is going on inside, regardless of what methods are used. With luck, some day the Lindens may get around to developing a solution to that often-requested feature.

I guess on this one I may be a bit shallow, knowing that you can be spied on anywhere, anytime by anyone with the desire to do so; I still prefer to change in some sort of enclosure rather than the middle of the welcome area. It’s that small difference that differentiates between a peeping tom and an exhibitionist. I still think a changing area beats the bottom of a lake.

There should be also Varick Eisenberg's "Creator CPU" out there in world. A freebie as well, and aside from being nice helper for builder, it has ability to rez a platform that takes the owner 400 m up in air when sat upon... a wee bit more difficult to peek into, i guess o.O edit: another one ... http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=78484

Perfect would involve Linden intervention but definately a step in the right direction!

Well, I have a 1/4 sim, and the middle of it, when everyone is banned is out of range of peeping toms, but that's a bit difficult to do for every newbie who wants to change clothes.

The god mode tool camera enhancements make short work of that apparently... Better to stick with the "No privacy in SL" I think, other than a hidden private sim, as you noted From: Jack Harker Well, I have a 1/4 sim, and the middle of it, when everyone is banned is out of range of peeping toms, but that's a bit difficult to do for every newbie who wants to change clothes.

Yeah, I go over 700 in the air to a platform in the sky, owned by someone I know. Rarely is anyone else there...but I'm not telling you where, or I'll never change in peace! LOL.
