From: Fredizzle Brown Alazarin, I know what the issues are. Really I do, but this post was not about the issues, it was about hating noobs. Not all noobs are bad. Thats why I had to post. Respectfully, Fredizzle, this thread is not about hating new people. It's about the original poster trying to stir up crap by twisting and misrepresenting what the protest is about.

From: Sugga Twin So how are they going? Why don't we discuss how much we hate n00bs here, and how much we don't want new people and new competitors in Second Life?
Second Life: just for the old heads. Right? There are no anti-newbie protests.

From: CounterProtest Hubbard I don't know. A lot of these people just hate n00bs.
No. We hate cowardly people who hide behind alts to attack others.

From: Fredizzle Brown HUH?
I have been on since May 06, I have aquired a Private Island, formed an Partnership with a wonderful woman and and been adopted by a large Family in SL. I have spent a ton of L$ in this world. I spend time with my Partner and my Family. I enjoy what I have built in just a short time. I still consider myself a noob. Why would you hate me? Fredizzle, as a n00b myself I can assure you that you are nobody hates you because you are a new resident. In fact I expect the people you meet ingame like you but the issue isn't n00bs in general it is underage residents and alts of trouble makers that can cause the problems being experienced by many established residents. Everybody new that enters SL to enjoy the experience that this wonderful game offers is always welcome. You sound like you are having a great time, welcome to the forums.

From: Jamie David I feel really bad Sugga and appologise that we did not explain it clearly enough for you. We would like to keep SecondLife open and available to everyone. All it takes is one child to be involved in a sexual act and we loose it. You are vocal enough to feel this important so I assume you would like SL to stay? Please protest, it is your right. You feel that the open system that is now should stay then sit with your real name and let all see that you believe in what you say. Please be polite and respect Philip and Robin's speech no matter if you are for or against. Should be an enlightning time. When this began, it was about the excess greifing occuring inside SL not about minors being here specifically but nice spin to gain support for passive agression t-shirt displays at the celebration.

You mean, "spin", as in what you're doing when you call plans for a peaceful protest that hasn't occurred yet, "griefing", in advance? Just checking.

From: Summer Carmichael When this began, it was about the excess greifing occuring inside SL not about minors being here specifically but nice spin to gain support for passive agression t-shirt displays at the celebration. Your trolling is getting very tiresome, Summer. The issue has ALWAYS been about the degradation of the atmosphere in Second Life as a result of the registration changes. That degradation includes, but is not limited to (a) Unlimited creation of alt accounts (like you basically admitted you did) to troll forums and misbehave in SL without any form of personal accountability; (b) The resulting increase in teenagers entering the Mature grid; (c) A commensurate increase in griefer attacks. It's not up to you to define our issue here. That issue has been very well defined already by more than a few other members. Neither will you be permitted to mispresent our peaceful demonstration against a policy that allows unverified accounts into Second Life with no accountability. Ok, two can play the strawman game: Reading your posts, it occurs to me that you are simply prejudiced against t-shirts. Shame on you. What have t-shirts ever done to you?

Ahem. For "Summer" with the reading comprehension issues, from the original protest announcement post: From: Allana Dion Prop 1503 asking LL to bring back age and identity verification was basically shut down with an "acknowledgement" that was no real acknowledgement at all, but merely assurances that they will give us more anti-griefing toys instead.
So Prop 1523 was started instead as a way of stating to LL that it isn't just about possible griefers but that it is about verifying the ages of the people who register. Now tell me, WHO is spinning?

Are you trying to tell me what I can and can not add to the discussion? Last I checked it's an open forum. I haven't misrepresented anything, I merely disagree with your protest.

From: Freyr Elvehjem I'm a "n00b" and I've met some folks in-world who are very against the new system. However, they treated me with the same respect they treated "old heads". Gee, maybe it's because I didn't twist their words and intentions by spewing false propaganda against them. You might be on to something there. There's nothing inherently wrong with noobiess. And nothing inherently great about oldbies. But I have noticed I've gotten my first beggars EVER in SL in the last month. One of the behaviors that is maddening in other worlds, is now going to become the norm in SL. Ugh.

From: Summer Carmichael Are you trying to tell me what I can and can not add to the discussion? Last I checked it's an open forum. I haven't misrepresented anything, I merely disagree with your protest. You've made a number of very inaccurate statements here, Summer, to the point that when you say that I have to wonder what planet you're living on. And yes, I was serious when I said you don't get to define what we're saying. You've done your part to misrepresent our stance, but that has nothing to do with our stated aims. Reality works that way -- claiming it's something else won't change what it is. See, the problem you're going to have here is that your words are posted on the forums and can't be taken back. To whit: From: Summer Carmichael When this began, it was about the excess greifing occuring inside SL not about minors being here specifically but nice spin to gain support for passive agression t-shirt displays at the celebration. -- False. See the direct links to proposition 1503 and 1523. Griefing is only part of the issue, although a major one. From: Summer Carmichael You are going to grief the residents that you want to save from griefing, maybe you just want some attention, because 5-6 threads, propositions and various other whining hasn't been fulfilling enough. -- False again, we specifically do not want to disrupt the party. (remaining vague ad hominem arm-waving in your statement ignored for the moment) From: Summer Carmicheal Your plan is not effective and it's insulting to other residents who worked hard to make a nice celebration. -- False yet again. We're utilizing the free speech the Lindens allow in SL, and we're doing it in a respectful way. But by now it's obvious you just don't get the whole point. From: Summer Carmichael so then using that logic, it's okay to go grief at this event, they deserve it? -- False once more. "Demonstrating peacefully" is not griefing. There is no equivalency. You have yet to really say anything that was substantive to the issue, Summer. You've created strawmen and yelled "griefing" without explaining how a peaceful demonstration is "griefing" -- except that it is convenient to your argument to be so dismissive of other people's legitimate concerns about the future of Second Life. You claim the protest will be ineffective. We really don't care, it's not going to stop us from speaking up. By that token, your trolling and misrepresenting what we stand for isn't very effective either. It won't stop anyone from standing up for something we feel strongly about. Carry on.

I have no problem with n00bs. I have a problem with wankers.
The registration system aids wankers as well as n00bs.
That is all.

From: Gabe Lippmann Stop twisting my words I never ate any n00bs. Just alts in n00b clothing. How about nOOb with port, nOOb Saltimbocca or even country fried fried nOOb. Served perhaps with gohan and a side order of Sweet and Sour Gorean.
