I don't see how that would possibly help in this case. He'd be able to hide from the people pestering him all day?

If one buys an answering machine at a garage sale IRL, and it doesnt' work, if the former owner tells you they bought it used and you should go to (insert department or appliance/electronics store here) for service and repair, would one REALLY expect to get help, showing up without a warranty, purchase slip, etc.? And to pitch a fit thereafter? The security squad would escort the double-duped person to the door, with their defunct equipment.

I see no reason for SL transactions to be different in this respect, especially if the "doofus" is less than polite and understanding. There are those out there that just aren't savvy enough, RL or SL and will make mistakes, however, there are also those that want something for nothing. They got their something, now they can do nothing with it! Shouldn't that make them happy?

Ok that may seem harsh but I fully sympathise with your sentiments. I bid you peaceful, friendly customer interactions from here on out!

Because thats the same as doing nothing and ignoring it, and ends up at the same place.

People still trying to bug me for customer support for shit that I never made.

Its a problem without a broad solution - this is my individual solution.

I think ripping stuff apart and making new stuff out of it is very cool - its why I put out free stuff in the first place.. but if you sell it, then YOU take responsibility for it - not me.

I also think that just taking free items, changing perms, and slapping a pricetag on it is dispicable practice - doubly so if you send ppl back to me when the changed perms make it not work for refunds.

My individual solutions:

I won't make free full perms stuff ever again... I may make freebies for my own products - they will not be full perm.

I won't service or help with anything other than what I sell.. I've not released anything 'free' for over a year and a half now - so anything out there now is 'viral'.. I think the comments in the stuff I did make sufficient for instructional purposes.

I wipe my hands of the whole thing.

To dissuade folks from continuing to send people my way - I will offer 'negative reinforcement' - so that it is no longer attractive to make it 'my problem'. I will make it thiers again with bells on - and enjoy myself doing it. I'm sure that having your 'tech support guy' telling customers to go fuck a cattledog won't be too good for biz.. nor will having customers in your stores randomly fart loudly or have trout particles shoot outta their arses.

And don't think for a second I won't do it
