If LL is going to continue to even need a statement of mission, perhaps they should consider getting backups for the assetts it has now or they might just accidentally lose that statement like they lost my avatar.. LL could then give themselves some lame excuse for its loss and wash over it like nothings happening... Hmmm..

Speaking of backups, I just lost about half an hour's work. I worked on a couple of scripts, took off the attachment they were in, put it back on, and voila, the scripts reverted to their previous state. I am going to back up my scripts before I save attachments from now on, since I can't trust SL to actually save changes.

Mission Statement for LL Breakdown....
1) Customer Service: Do anything to deflect customer inquiries, lie about whats really going on. Deny ever fucking up and by no means never offer to fix something so it doesnt happen again.
2) LindeX: Print our own money.. (nuff said)
3) did I mention customer Service? Oh yes I did...
4) Has lost the will do anything for anyones interest outside the contributors.
5) Debug our release code for at least 30 minutes before releasing it to 72K users.
6) After charging users real money for lindens, loose the items they buy, *on accident*, becauuse they dont have backups, see customer service notes.., and make them buy more Lindens with real money to replace the items that are unrecoverable..
Way to be Customer oriented LL..
I think SL is by far the best realm out there but I am being burned by their incompetence so I will continue to remind the users who come across these rants that everything we buy, make, think is ours, is in fact not have any value to LL and therefore does not merrit the use of real money to pay for. This is very sad..

From: Troy Alexander 2) LindeX: Print our own money.. (nuff said) I think there's plenty of valid criticism we can level at Linden Lab without resorting to uninformed BS.

I think it was a valid comment, I have purchased Linden from it, and spent it in game. They lost things I bought, and I was out the real US$ amount. What part is unninformed?

Troy - you're not buying Lindens from Linden Lab, you're buying them from other players. It's a trade system, not a money mill.

From: Enabran Templar I dunno, the part that I specifically quoted, maybe? Well perhaps then you can explain to me how its ok for LindeX to charge me real US$ Federally backed by the United States and give me Linden Dollars backed by what? Perhaps you will think otherwise when your out a few hundred real US$ and not even a reply from them. Your willingness to back them is interesting to say the least. Sorry if I am less intelligent than your average oblivious poster, but I still say its a valid comment and will not lower myself to insult you for being rude.

If I am not buying from Linden Labs then why are they charging my credit card? My only point is really that if the system becomes unstable and looses your purchased L, I dont care who they came from, a Bank would correct this error. What will LL do? Not a thing...

Enabran, I enjoyed this thread, it had a lot of different and interesting viewpoints, and actually dealt with Second Life in general.
Good job.

They charge you (and give the seller the money, minus thier costs) becasue they're being an intermediary. It's still a trade system, and they do chase down errors in that system. This is really one end of the system they've not buggered up (save the whole screwing over GOM thing), so I'm not sure why this is an issue for you.

I do, however, see the system as being good as a whole, I would just like some accountability for losses due to LL equipment failures and issues.

I find it exceedingly hard to belive LL is inactively standing by an error of that magnatude. Actually, when it comes to the ever-sensative subject of money and credit, I don't belive they're standing idly by any error of any magnitude.

Ah. I see, you meant you lost inventory you gained from spending the L$ your purchaced. (You didn't present it that way, and it is a different issue.) Well, they do make that reappear too, but it takes an exceedingly long time even when they aren't pressed with the havock of releasing a new and quite buggy point release. It happened to me in 1.5, and I got it all back (months later and without warning. LL has some bloody serious issues with communication).

Then bought additional L from them to replace what they had lost for me. I know I am the fool for going back for more...

Honestly if they ever do reply or get my items back I will post an appology, but I have been told by LL that my items are unrecoverable.

Many of us merchants will replace lost inventory for you. I always do, but I sell stuff with copy-only perms so it's a no big deal thing for me. People selling transferable items, well, depends on how they've been treated in the past, really... (Oh, and I looked to see if you might have ost anything I can replace and see you've got a couple of older vehicles - the Okerusha now has a far more adnvanced mouselook version, and it's now armed with special effects weapons (i.e. not push), and upgrades are free. IM me if you want one.)

Thank you Jillian, thats very kind, and I did have at least one item returned to me by the fantastic Munchflower Zaius. The problem is I had no accounting list of all the items or who I purchased them from and I was silly enought to think that since I have not lost anything since I started the game that they were safe in my inventory.
