I used to really like SL for many aspects but now, once my busy RL work schedule abates a little, I'll be coming back in-world simply to make more money. I've given up thinking that SL is anything other than a commodities market and I'll use it as such until such time as it all implodes or radically shifts into something fun again.

Thank god this didn't devolve into any positive posts about what people love about SL. That was close.

Mary and Memir, building, exploring some of the most fabulous 3D models I've ever bumped an avatar into, flight, and funny gestures.

:D

I love building and sharing those builds with everyone in sl. I love the ability to create a 3d building then walk threw it and interact in it. I love seeing how my textures come to life on my builds. I love it when a genius scriptor makes one of my objects come to life. I love being social with ppl even tho I have been a bit of a hermit lately building The Wharf. I love playing Quintzee with my dear friend Van she rocks my socks :D Hugz girly. I love discovering a real gem of a project. I like just clicking on the map and and going some place I have not been in a long time or some place I have never been. I love making things and still get gitty when something sells :) Yup I still love SL I love the fact that I can be a man or a woman depending on my mood :D I love virtualy chain smoking and making some realy silly shit that makes my friends LOL! Mostly I love how creative everyone is.

Hows that Gabbie :D hugz

Exploding cows.

Not so much that they exist - but that they CAN exist.

love the creative outlet and the many people who i may have not crossed paths with in this lifetime without this medium to do so...

LOL just kidding, its the sexxx balls, griefers and camping chairs that make my second life go round.

I love being able to appear young and pretty, and being able to virtually jump from building to building.

I love doing high speed slalom flying.\

--- Also thin. Young and pretty and thin.

I like plywood.

That's good.

People with plywood allegies are in a bad way in SL.

When we were waiting for our bus out of San Fran yesterday, we were watching the vast multitudes of people scurry hither and yon. A pretty normal crowd for such a big city, until....

...some kid waving the American flag, in a white and blue jumper, on Rollerblades, led a train of other similarily-dressed people, also on Rollerblades, weaving and dodging through the crowd on the other side of the street.

The last guy in the train was carrying a jukebox. It was playing "Eye of the Tiger".

I looked over at Mak and said "THAT'S the reason I love SL. I don't have to come all the way to a major city and sit on a streetcorner for 2 hours to get lucky enough to see something twice as surreal as that."

My best friend in SL got a commission to build a "compound" in a desert sim, using an Arabic theme. He built a little Morroccan paradise. It's got these gorgeous textures, many he created himself. The colors are so perfect, and the water there with the sunset on it, and a keyhole bridge...it's incredibly peaceful and lovely. I may never see Morrocco or travel to a desert, but what he built and captured in terms of mood and mystery is amazing for me to experience. I can walk through it and sit on the edge of the water and dangle my feet and immerse myself in this art he created. This is what I love about SL.

I also met my boyfriend here, and he built our hippie club, which is not the most amazing build, but it also captures a mood. Love my boyfriend, love our club and the spaces we made together.

I guess I love the abilities we have to create our own private worlds which we can interact with. I've met great people here and most of them have their own vision of the world they want to create and live in, and they do it. If they share it with everyone else, all the better.

For me, it's raw avitar customisability. I carry around 3 avitars, a Male Rat, a Female Dragoness, and my Male Human, all designed to fit my exact vision of what would best represent them. I can spend hours tweaking how they look and what they wear, and then go out to a club and get a ton more ideas.

excellent thread!

let me cut to the quick here.. my list:

-the forums: yes, really. (as if it wasn't apparent from the amount of time i spend here) i have always admired our community. past any negativity is a large group of people that are collectively a huge resource of creativity and intelligence. i know of no other MMO that i can visit the forums of and find such a wide variety of intellectual debates, examples of wild creativity, passionate threads about the service or many other examples not listed here.

-avatar customization: again, i know of no other interactive experience that has such extensive appearance options and that's not including avatars that use prims for their look.

-3D building tools: the amount of possibilities with this tool-set are wonderful, maybe not perfect, but amazing in possible applications.

-the future: from very early on i was envisioning what the far-flung future may hold for us and so far we're slowly heading in a very impressive direction. SL could very possibly be the beginnings of a true MetaVerse, or as i used to call SL.. the BetaVerse.

-flight: this part's just plain fun! :D

-LSL: again, a fairly unique feature. just having this as part of SL is "braggable", but seeing what has been done with it.. some of these things are simply amazing!!

-charity causes: once more, i know of no other MMO that has done as much as SL in this vein. we have truly helped in several worthy cause and i'm sure there are many more to come. this is a particularly emotionally charged advantage.

i'm sure there are a good deal more that i could think of, but my brain is starting to melt and i have to go recharge shortly. so, that's my list.. for now.

I love that I can rez a plywood cube and turn it into the form of a voluptuous woman with her body arched in ways that depicts a sensual dance.
