How are you surviving the Altocaust?

Since 6/6/6, our world has changed forever. Noobs, alts, greifers, scammers, and fucktards are flooding our world like nuclear fallout. The authorities have holed themselves up and left us all do fend for ourselves. As chaos reigns, we must band together to fight, to survive, to find a solution. As random assaults against decency escalate, we too must do what is necessary to defend our basic rights. We must draw our breath, raise our fists, and let them know... YOU WILL NOT TAKE US!!!!

*listens to sounds of thousands of weapons being cocked and primed*

How I'm Survivng - Burke's Tips:
- Sticking to areas I know are usually safe, that I have control over.
- Spending more time sitting.
- Not going to sandboxes.
- Keeping my proximity detector and defense orbitter running.
- Ejecting/Banning/Orbitting/Stomping On people that begin to pose a threat. An armed society is a polite society.
- Begging and imploring LL for changes that limit greifing, allow finer control of land, and prevent things like orbitters from working in the first place.
- Encouraging my fellow residents to stick with it, and do their part to not allow greifers to spoil our experience.

How about ya'll?

I'm not doing too much different to be honest... hasn't really curbed my exploration a whole lot, though it has made me tempted to use that new-fangled hit detector thingy that one of the Lindens made. Griefing honestly doesn't bug me too much... getting launced? a minor inconveniance, I mostly chat via IM when exploring, and perhaps I will land somewhere new. I would send a AR, though.

Well, while we're at it.

I of course only rely upon my WolfMech robot AV to lend a hand at defense, as its new and improved energy blade slices and dices anything -- including griefers.

And once I am done with the choppity-chop, I whip out my HV-02 Hovercraft and then mercilessly run over the remains.

Im playing A Tale in the Desert along with several other SLrs who apparently got tired of it all. And once everyone realizes there is life after second life, those residual accounts will start dropping off.

I built a fort out of my inverted diningroom table and some blankets.

Personally I've not seen a single one - and the reason for that can only be that I have the entire product line of Ordinal Enterprises in my inventory. Make sure YOU are griefer-free by buying all my stuff! In fact, you should have several dozen copies of each item, just to be on the safe side.

N.B. that's buy all my stuff by the way in case anyone didn't catch that message

Sums it up for me pretty well.

BTW, everyone should quit and go somewhere else. ;)

If you say so. :( :( :(

------ In today's top news, a mass exodus of avatars spelled the end of the virtual environment simulation Second Life.

When queried as to the reasons for their mass departure, one former resident of Second Life laid the blame - or credit - solely on a comment made by Gabe Lippman.

"When I read what Gabe said, about how we should quit and go somewhere else, it was like a lightbulb going off in my head. I hurried as quick as I could to the account page on secondlife.com, sold my lindens, and cancelled my account, and I'm glad I did."

"Since leaving Second Life I've lost weight, made new friends in real life, and gotten two promotions at work. Thanks Gabe, taking your wonderful advice really set me free!"

I never said that. I deny the whole thing. Why are you harassing me? Where's my lolly?

It hasn't affected me personally except through how it's affected others. I am reading the forums and the police blotter a lot more, though, mostly for the same reason people stare at car crashes or go to that celebrity morgue website...

I encountered an new account two days ago. He was upset that all of his other accounts were banned by the Lindens. He said they had no justification for doing this. I asked him what he did and then noticed his copy of "Mien Kampf" under his arm. OK and then he deployed his "ant marching band".

Gabe's Lolly.

Do a google image search for lolly with the adult content filter turned off and you may find something you'd find more amusing.

AHHH!

Wait.

Why were you searching Google with the adult filter off?

I always have the adult filter off, except that Google keeps turning it back to medium, and also keeps changing other preferences away from how I set them.

I looked up lolly to find a lollipop for Gabe.

I was not expecting the precise imagery that I found. :p

Ah, yes. I think I've met that guy, he bugs me every time he starts a new account.

While I do agree with many points that have been spoken about in this thread, I think we all need to remember that a LOT of nice adult people have signed up for accounts since 6/6/6 (a few friends of mine included).

I just really hope that people dont start to automaticaly assume anyone who created an account after 6/6/6 are and alt or a griefer or a teen.

In fact it IS ok to have an ALT as we all know (I have one that was created just for using in various RP areas in SL).

I'm not pointing any fingers or complaining, I just feel its a good idea to put a little bit of positive feedback for the many people who will be joining our population (many who will pay for premium accounts).

i wanna ant marching band! 8D

alas as a newbie-helping volunteer at the shelter i can't do much differently. i'm a bit crabbier though from the constant balancing act that is helping good newbies/dealing with the ones needing daycare/greefer patrol...

Ant marching bands are pretty neat, actually, users aside.

But I've not done too badly; the griefers are pretty much minimal for me *woodknock*, no matter what guise I'm in.

I am not certain, but I think there just might possibly be some kind of subliminal ad in this post.

Done - but, I'm a bit lost here. What are the griefer repelling qualities of the Automated Champagne Waiter and the Flying Bicycle? I now have 144 of each (I'm a trifle compulsive about numbers) and feeling a little confused here - maybe because of the sterling efforts of said Automated Champagne Waiters.
