If $$ is no object, here's another link to check out. Starting cost is about $4500, and can go as high as $10,000 with all the bells and whistles.

Heh, yet another Clevo rebrander. 10K? Jesus. You can get the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 model from Pro-Star for $3500.

Anyway, if money is no object, I know where you can get a laptop that has dual UltraSparc IIIi 64-bit processors with 16gb of memory. Yes, I said laptop. It only runs about $25-30K.

Probably because no-one's noticed, or else because it's all about 'I NEED A SUPER LAPTOP TO PLAY SECOND LIFE.' Probably arbitrary.

it can't hurt to look at what notebook the CEO of the company bought right?

sony vgn-s series (s560-580 are the current ones i believe)

decent clocked pentium M's (which sl likes, yesssss)

and nvidia graphics, which SL also likes

you'll get 15 fps in busy areas, 30-40 fps in calmer ones... just about paces my desktop actually, and if you customize them from the sony website you can chisel them down to around $1400ish

I <3 my Sager 9750 (see specs in my .signature). The touchpad and the keyboard both suffer 'issues', however, so I used velcro to frankenstein a Lenovo 8950 trackpoint keyboard on top. It's perfect now. Yeah, it weighs 13lbs and it doubles as a convection oven, but I love it just the same.

I have a good enough laptop to run sl but am wondering about getting a connection whilst away from home as will be away for a week at a time.

Does anyone know if you can run sl on wireless connections or 3G connections?

Thanks

You can certainly run it on wireless. 3G... I doubt it. Probably not fast enough.

Awesome choice, Crucial - as you saw, mine is the same "under the hood" as that model! You're going to love it.
