I had just found a switch at the bottom of one of the ocean sim, I turned it off, of course, guess what happened next?

We are still investigating the DB issue that was causing problems. Normally we would be in the process of switching over to a back up. However our 2nd backup (so we have a backup when we come back up) is more than a few hours behind. We need to keep the grid offline while this backup catches up.
We estimate that Second Life should be back open approximately 7:30pm PST (3 hours from this post). Sorry for the inconvenience. __________________ - Kelly Linden |

I have worked in this industry for many years now and I know what all can go wrong. Needless to say, knowing the behind the scenes of a MMORPG style system, I do not share the opinion that it is incompetence. _____________________

How about this it got the point across that I am tired of people claiming incompitance is the root of all that is wrong with the grid/database. Yes I probably could have said it in a different manner but damn it I am tired of hearing people that are totally clueless to what goes on behind the scenes claiming LL is incompitant.
