Regarding R.K.'s comment: There's no privacy in SL. None at all. There's no way to make privacy. That's one of the things that makes SL a chilling harbinger of the future. Another is that there are no walls in SL. Nor any sort of meaningful structural order. So if someone wants to practise a personal fetish, they not only do it in plain view, they rub your nose in it, too. And there's not much you can do. Except versify until you're blue.

LL makes clear distinction between something done in public and behind the walls you say are non existant. Privacy may be sketchy in SL - but it's not non-existant, except to people who deliberatly want to invade the privacy of others.

Just beacause you can, doesn't mean you should. Do you really want your neighbors hating you?

Privacy may be sketchy in SL - but it's not non-existant, except to people who deliberatly want to invade the privacy of others. True, there's no real privacy in LL (much moreso with the wireframe view mode ... but who wants to see wireframe sex? must be some new fetish I'm not aware of). @ Crissaegrim It may be possible to see what's behind walls but I think LL means more like if it were behind walls then it's not public and not in plain view. That is, it takes deliberate efforts to be able to see it. This is as opposed to plastering a nude centerfold pic on the outside of your house because there's no intent whatsoever to obscure its viewing and anyone walking or flying by can see it. So if same nude pic were pasted to the inside of an opaque building wall you're saying "I don't want people to see this." Anyone who wants to see it has to do either the peeping-tom prim manipulation or do a bit of camera calesthenics.

From: Taimaixiu Babcock If I owned my own land, could I build a house made of Goatse textures. If you dont know what goatse is, its an extremely gross and shocking image of a male doing something improper with his backside. Ahh one of the the underage wanna-be smartass griefers we all know and abhore have taken advantage of the new lax no-proof-of-age-required basic accounts. Be mindful everyone, he thinks he's the sharpest knife in the drawer and that somehow all his crap smells NEW and UNIQUE! when, in fact, it smells like the same old shit. /sigh

From: CJ Carnot Meh, I'm not even shocked by it. Actually I rather think people like the OP are fixated on these things for more personal reasons they're unable to confront head-on. Umm i never denied that i enjoy the sight of goatse and lemonparty.

/sigh I didn't know someone made a huge goatse model before, if they have point me in the direction. It'll save me a lot of time and energy.

From: Lewis Nerd No, definitely not.
First of all, there's the "no broadly offensive content" cause; plus material such as that should be inside and not outside on public view, even if by some strange quirk it wasn't caught under the first one.
My guess is that you'd get 100 AR's and disciplined for it. I would certainly have no hesitation in AR'ing it if I happened to find it on my travels round the grid.
I haven't heard of 'lemonparty' but I am aware of the nature of the 'goatse' image. But my guess is that neither of them are acceptable to the average, sensible, rational thinking individual.
It's a pity there aren't more of us in Second Life.
Lewis I find it amusing that Lewis thinks that anyone who agrees with him is "sensible and rational thinking" and that anyone who doesn't agree with him isn't. The Spanish Inquisition thought that too. BTW, I have never thought of you as sensible and rational thinking Lewis. I know, I know, that's because I am just wrong.

No, but you could definately plant annoying 'Impeach Bush' signs all over the grid without any kind of retorsion...

The answer:
Can you build anything? Yes. Should you build anything? Not necessarily.
The basic facts....
The tools let you build anything. The TOS doesn't.
Build anything you want. But if it's over the bounds of the TOS, don't be surprised if you recieve warnings/suspensions/banishments for such.

Someone has done the Goatse build, probably about a year ago now, when Schwanson held his "most disgusting build" contest on a private sim. AND, it was *scripted*
