yes completely different designs very easy to tell that is not a direct copy.

both are very nice and both have there own qualities.

also i thought it was easy to tell baby from Jane cause baby is wearing a necklace that says baby

All I can say is...

Please let's not be so quick to acuse each other of copying in SL.

It is very hurtful to a designer and should only be done in extremely obvious situations.

Ok clearly this looks nothing like it except of course for the rings, the straps, and the cleavage (woohoo), but it is an obvious copy because it has rings right?

They are similar but not exactly the same. It happens in SL maybe you both happened upon a web site and thought "hey I bet I can make that!" Maybe not. I don't know I didn't design either of them. I do however know that I am a shopping freak lol and I see things that are similar all the time. Sometimes the only difference is the price tag. Be happy that you can make clothes lord knows I hate it lol.

I would be so honored if Janie copied something of me. Her 'copy' makes the original look like a 'bad copy'.

Janie's design barely resembles yours, I'm not sure how you came to this result. We've got tons of designers in world now and "similar" designs are going to happen, especially when Janie spits out 5 or 6 outfits a day lol. I find it even more interesting that you would call Janie out and accuse her in the general forums. You had quite a few complaints back when your friend was involved with copying designs from myself and Mistress Midnight. I would have assumed you learned how to handle situations like this better by now.

Few things,

1)First off this thread should have been named "I rarely complain about copying, but I'm a mediocre designer who will claim something is mine that has basically no resemblence"

3)For some reason the words, "NOT even close to the same" keep popping in mind

4) its called Talent, Some people got it, Some don't. Just cos someone can make something more creative, not even close to the same, Don't cry wolf, the whole Blah blah Blah I made it, they copyied it. Least if your going to do that, do it to something that REMOTELY even looks a tiny tiny bit the same.

No it isn't a direct copy. Maybe from the same source.. I think I've seen this style in shops IRL. I personally do not shop at either store nor would I because I don't like the style. But really to drag the poor girl through the dirt like that is absurd. Yes it was cheeky to come here complain and to bash the other designer.. but absolutly wrong of you all to call or imply that the person is a talentless hack.

I've had one person I know of steal something I did. Right when I first started. I don't think my shop was open yet. Yet I KNEW this person had seen it since I had personally shown it to them. little while later they had the same pose up for sale where the photo was from the exact same angle as the one I had shown them.

Seeing it makes you hurt, angry, and upset until you a bumbling mess of emotions and have to release it somehow. You just need to calm down and relax. Then continue to create because you enjoy it. Bitching about it aint gonna solve the issue.

Well first off, she shouldn't have brought this to the boards. She should have discussed it with the person she 'thought' copied her. It's pretty unanimous that they are not an exact duplicate design and it was a pretty ridiculous post. I have seen many many duplicates in world and these designs have so many differences to set them apart that it's not even funny.

When someone posts something, especially something to this nature, they had better be prepared and have some sort of proof to back up their claims otherwise they just appear to be trashtalking and causing drama. If the OP didn't want honest reponses then she shouldn't have posted. I think she owes Janie an apology myself.

First of all not everyone is saying that she is a talentless hack. If you look at my comments previously in this thread, I made it very clear it has nothing to do with quality. So please don't generalize.

It was very shady of her to take it to the forums....I don't feel sorry for her one bit. There are several designers I have refused to buy from because of how they treat other designers on the forums.

This all could have been avoided if she had simply IM'd Janie and expressed her concerns in private. Since she chose not to do this, she opened herself up to honest opinions. You said "Bitching about it aint gonna solve the issue"...She was the first one to bitch.

If what I say doesn't reflect on your own personal comments then maybe I'm not actually talking about you.. then you can just ignore that part and move on? Will this make you happy? The overall feel I got from reading the responses was what I had stated.

As per the rest of the paragraph that it was in. See... paragraphs are used to change thoughts. The first two are my initial reaction from reading the replys. The next one was directed at the nasty repliers (you excluded). Then next was my own personal tale of woe, more then a few have them. And the last was my advice on what to do when things like this happen.

Maybe next time should I just make a post for replying to each person's comment. That would be more PC and get my posts counts up.

When I read this thread last night, I went to the Mischief store and bought some nice mens clothing. Thanks for the AD. I had never been there or even heard about it until last night.

Mischief does have some nice men's stuff, which looks good on women too.

OH.. I have the ring shirt in red plaid with black trim in my closet, so you both are so BUSTED!!
