Linden Lab "prints" ALL the money, ALL the time. Without LL as the central bank and platform operator, Lindens would not exist, would have no convertibility and no value.
Understood Frank, but the role of LL with regard to the currency wasn't in question. I didn't suggest they had an obligation regarding the exchange rate, but that they should be careful about the perceived value of the reparations they were offering if this notion of legal liability is true.
The point was that LL had a choice, they could create new money for the settlement payout or they could buy back enough Lindens on the market, presumably out of the proceeds from their real/alleged misrepresentations, to cover the settlement funds disbursed. The latter course would represent a straightforward transfer of value from LL's coffers to the recipients - the defendant loses value and the plaintiffs gain a corresponding amount. My thought was that they should not be creating new money if the settlement was to have credibility. I believe Ricky Z and I are making similar points here.
I try to keep my fantasies in world. Taking them home tends to lead to odd behavior.
But Frank, what do you do when your fantasies follow you home, hang around on your front steps, and start angering the neighbors with their vulgar language and loud music?
Ricky Zamboni: Thanks for the link to Robin's statement!
Khamon's right, this is all rumor chasing speculation. I should be sanding the walls in my livingroom anyway...
