Hey, I've just joined SL and havn't had the chance to even log in yet, I have played it at relatives houses and wondered how i can make some decent L$ because I want the rich man look

This is how I made decent cash even though I can barely build a box. Fall in love and get married to a workaholic content creator and have him/her open a shop. Of course he/she has to make things that will sell. Let the money roll in for 6-12 months, then sell the shop for a bundle! Then you can retire to a life of leisure.

You can look rich without spending anything, with a little talent or a lot of dedication
 Besides, you'll probablynot get the exact look you want in a box at a random mall, but by making it at least partly by yourself. And what you learn in the process can even make you rich for real _____________________

You can work for hours or days in SL to earn a few L$1,000 ($3-4). Or work for one hour in RL mowing someones l lawn or shoveling snow and have $25 (L$7,000-8,000).
Which one makes the most sense? If you decide you like to build or make stuff in SL and want to sell it, you will either have to buy land to put up a store or rent space in malls, which will cost you money either in land tier rentals to SL or rent payments. I have done this, and for the first time in the 9 months I have been toiling in SL I made enough money last month to pay my land tier, $25. And that included the L$500 Lindens give me each week. I am hoping to be able to do that again this month also but may not make enough, we will see. All pervious months SL has cost me money to play and I do not buy a lot of stuff. Well... OK I admit to owning quite a few pose balls. I build and sell houses, skyboxes, vehicles, erotic and fine art, and most recently I added "affordable" male genitals. The later of which contributed to my being able to pay for land tier last month. Some people make good money buying and selling land, but it takes a substantial investment and patience. Some make good money making and selling pose balls and clothing. Good luck to you. _____________________

I'm not sure having $L is necessary at all to be intangibly wealthy. Nobody can see how many $L you have.
Merely live well, have a rich experience and make others laugh. That will make you far more wealthy in intangibles than any amount of $L ever could. But if you are too virtually materialistic for that, simply drop by my antiques shop. You can make scripts using the in world scripting launguage (LSL)... You can make clothes using a image editing program... You have to learn how to do most of it.. There are a ton of clothing designers in SL and clothes aren't That expensive. Though there are less designers for men. I was wondering why you wanted to go for a rich look, what you think is cool about that. Just curious, my look is more on the lines of hippy oddball If you are making items out of the love of your heart you will probably do well. You have to decide what you enjoy making though whether it is chocolate or sailing ships. As far as making money in SL, well, there are probably, literally, just 2 or 3 people making a living doing so and it is probably a full time job for them. There are many others who make more than they pay but they put many more hours into their creations or services than it would be worth just for the money. |
