They have features we don't! Like puzzles! And pirates!
And those sprite manipulation techs, woo man, miles ahead of SL. I mean, sprites. 2d tech is the FUTURE.
I heard it's even sold in STORES. STORES, people. SL doesn't have that! We have to download it!
And those system requirements! Way small! I mean, dialup people can play! WTF IS UP WITH THAT PEOPLE
SL is Doomed. DOOMED.
...
...

To quote the hillarity: "OMG Roflcakes! XD"
Now in semi-serious rebuttle, Puzzle Pirates is no competition for SL at all. I mean SL has ninjas! Everyone knows ninjas beat pirates!

I kid you not... I tried Puzzle Pirates, and was confused at not being able to zoom my cam out.
Seriously, that ever happen to someone? You get on SL for awhile, and then go into a different app, and you struggle to get used to the controls?

Tried using Alt clicking earlier to zoom out in the GIMP earlier. Let's just say it didn't work as I had planned. >.>; And ninjas so totally beat pirates, they have those cool hand gestures and were used as secret assassins or thieves in days gone by. They're land pirates, only more mysterious and they have a good reason for being dressed up in pajamas. >D

I wanted to see what my hair was looking like at the back, so I tried to go out of mouselook and zoom in, and it didn't work. And I tried to attach an HUD and hurt my eye. The UI is terrible on this thing.

Heheh I have a lot of problems adjusting to controls in other aps if I've spent too much time in SL. I'm always trying to zoom in on images in Firefox to get a better look.

Puzzle pirates be damned..... the big threat to SL is boulderdash, this game has a far more sophisticated physics engine, and will even run on a commodore 64, so it will be useable by a lot more low end users, as well as those of us who have Crays

We could get the largely naked ninja pirate/ pirate ninja babes to make pankakes, and waffles, to sustain us as we play Boulderdash.

time to make a new line of clothes from my (upcoming, if I ever get clothes down) Harlequin line...
The pirate/ninja girl!
Note: Avatar may use female shape when modelling outfits. Do not take as crossdressing tendencies.

SL does have to compete with all sorts of things
02-15-2006 05:56
SL does have to compete with Puzzle Pirates - and all the other 2D computer games in existence, and all the 3D, and with learning to program in a real programming language or 3D designing with TurboCad.
Also it has to compete with books, and CDs an DVDs, and on and on and on.
It has to compete with all the of the usiverse that isn't SL, because time and money are scarce.
It also has to compete with beer and cigarettes. That tier payment could buy some beer and cigarettes if not spent on land. Seems like Robert Heinlein used to say that about science-fiction books, you were trying to get people's beer and cigarette money from them, so you'd best have something good to offer them.

I say Philip should hire a lobbyist and outlaw beer and cigarettes! Also, get SL declared a public utility and have the government supply it at massively discounted rates to everyone in America.

I have a 'YEEARGH!' gesture that summarizes and encompasses everything about Puzzle Pirates.
After you hear it, you never need look at Puzzle Pirates again. You've been fully immersed.

.... This might sound stupid, but I'm not a Ninjatologist or anything... do ninjas make a sound? I know Pirates go 'Yarr'.
I know ninjas are all stealthy except when 'flipping out and killing people'. And even then they might not be seen by the naked eye. But do they make a sound?
