I don't know what the problem on these forums has been lately, but everyone is acting like grumpy old men. Very pessimistic, very demanding - and frankly - very rude. While everybody complains about the alleged rise in "the rude nOObs", I've noticed a rise in childish behavior of ESTABLISHED secondlifers. That is disappointing to say the least. So the purpose of this thread is to say "Thank You" to the Lindens and Linden Labs for ALL their hard work. In case nobody has noticed, we've had an awesome update out, good progress on the lag issue, and record numbers of NEW players. Those are great accomplishments. Of course there are still problems... there always will be. Thats just how life works. So, Kudos, LL - and please keep up the good work - even if its not always articulated just know that we do appreciate it

I bet you can't. I seriously hope you are kidding. The Lindens work full time at LL, are you honestly suggesting that in the past 30 days they've all come to work, sat around, and done NOTHING? Good grief.

I bet you can't. Umm.. I'm full of snarky remarks, so I'll go with: They kept the grid up and running? I mean, they could have just closed it, but instead, they decided to keep it up.

Couldn't have put it better myself, actually I would figure having a running grid, however gimped is a good decision, but having shutting it down might have been the better choice. So, thank you LL for having a running grid, however gimped it might be and however painful it might run on my abused comp.

Um. The upgrade in two days? Or the birthday event they're planning? Or the addition of two more Ls? You can choose one of those as good choices from them right now, yes?
It's not that they're doing a great job, either. It's that so far they've done a great job. If they hadn't, you wouldn't be here at all.
So, Kudos, LL.

So, Kudos, LL. The patch to fix something that wasn't broken until they broke it last week, the birthday celebration that is taking resources away from fixing bugs, and adding two more lindens when they need to add about fifty? Nope, not seeing it.

Now come on, they're not playing backgammon, they have a job to do and they do it. Most of them do it well and many of them (that I've met anyway) are even polite and friendly while they're doing it. Granted not friendly every moment, no one beams back a bright shiny smile when their work is interupted for yet more work.
There have been several decisions LL has made that I have been unhappy with yes. There have also been several decisions my (RL) apartment managers have made, my PGE company have made, my local library has made (1pm closing time 3 days a week pfft) But I don't go around insulting the employees of those businesses, I argue against the decisions where I can but I try to remember that the employees are just normal people, mostly nice people, just doing their jobs.
So cut the employees of LL some slack. You don't like a decisions of the management its fine to say so (and I have) but to insult the peons doesn't do anyone any good and certainly doesn't make anyone want to work any harder.

Nope, not seeing it. They COULD just leave it broken. Temporarily, perhaps, but they're also giving people a chance to all get together. It's called progress <3 I can only imagine how hard it is to FIND people that would be good Lindens.

Well I have a solution to the lack of Lindens working on SL- Hire more!! Of course to do so means the money has to come from somewhere. I suppose they could just raise the fee's everyone is paying. I'm sure everyone complaining about lack of bug fixes & support wouldn't mind paying double, triple or quadruple.

I agree, I do not think just keeping it open is enough. They have left it broken in my opinion. They've left many features that promised a look over and never have. They allow free players while the rest of us gotta be the ones paying for them to play. Sorry but it's just not worth 75 a month for land that I can barely move on and I have a good system and I am alone on my land. The lag has been horrible. The newbies/alts in the last week have been utmost rude and pushy. If you don't like that it's happening maybe you should stop defending their good work. It's your money too you know. All I know is I'm seriously considering cancelling it all goind down to basic. Now if all us Premiums with land do this one by one cause it's no longer worth that much money for sure who's land you gonna play on then? just look at the facts:
Paying large sums for land that we're not getting the full use out of anymore. Lag so bad I can barely move in a region that has only me in it. I just can't give a good reason of why this game is worth what I pay, and I don't even own an island I can't image paying that much. 75 USD a month is plenty horrible enough. Not to mention your premium. If it wasn't for those of us who've been paying prices like this for over a year like me, half of you basic accounters wouldn't be playing and half those new Linden's wouldn't have JOBS!!!!!! if thats what they call what they do with MY MONEY

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Personal conflict resolution and the whole police blotter? What are those about? Good things, I'm sure it's not easy trying to deal with people who both think they are right. Also things from "Fake slot machines offered to casino owners." to "Use of an alt account to carry out major violations."

Not long enough, in my opinion, to know SL and LL enough to make such a scathing comment. Maybe ease back on the negativity and give it some time? Or is this a recently created alt, to dump negative shit on the forums that you're too chicken-shit to say on your main account? In which case, I'll consider your opinion non-existant.

From: Pandora Pinkerton cept now all those ALTs are back thanks to their latest decision to open registration completely. They are trying to make it available to more types of people, when you do that, of course you're going to have people that abuse the system. That's where Abuse Reports come in handy. And as Robin has said: From: Robin Linden Hi Travis - I'm so sorry for the problems you're encountering!
To answer your questions...
1. Yes we are carefully tracking the number of abuse reports filed (which we have been doing for a long time. Remarkably, the % of abuse reports filed relative to population has been the same, with about 1/2 point fluctuation, since we implemented the system). We track the number daily, and if we decide to make additional changes to the registration system we will let everyone know.
2. We are implementing additional controls to keep banned griefers banned. I'm not going to go into what those controls are, for obvious reasons.
So I'm sure if it gets totally out of hand, they'll stop the no billing registration.

I have read a lot on the forums and talked to people that have been members for 2 years, the majority of what I've heard is that in the past few months things have gone down hill.

From: Rose Bradley Many companies to 30 day evaluations, why should LL be any different? This is my main account. I have read a lot on the forums and talked to people that have been members for 2 years, the majority of what I've heard is that in the past few months things have gone down hill. First of all, apologies for the alt bit, that was a tad harsh, but I was surprised to see such a broad and damning indictment from someone so new. I still say, however, give it some time. There's a lot to learn about SL, and I think with time you start to see things differently to when you joined. Take some time to form your own judgement, because as far as I cant tell, people have always been saying that SL is going downhill for such and such a reason, and the world seems to end every other week at least. Digging through the archives reading threads from long before I joined, I'm struck by how similar they read to what's going on today. The topic may have changed slightly, but skip the title and it's pretty much the same stuff. I remember people talking about P2P not so long ago, you wouldn't think something so convenient cause such a fuss. Not just the whole telehub issue, there was actually people stuff like it'll make SL more divided, destroy the sense of community (something like that anyway), that it would reduce the grid to a bunch of disconnected rooms. That people wouldn't bother making nice exteriors, because no-one would see the outside. That people wouldn't explore. P2P rocks, and none of that happened. Flying everywhere because you had to, sucked. People shout about the bad, and the good is often overlooked. There's been (and is) bugs, but I've had performance improvements in the last few months that far outweigh that, for me. There's some small things that people rarely mention that I like too. Like not having to wait forever everytime you TP while your attachments are saving. LL is like anything. There's good and bad decisions. We're not always right about which is which. Some things which seem bad at first turn out ok. Some things which do suck get changed or fixed. The cycle will never end though. They'll make decisions, and there's alway going to be plenty of people to tell them, hey that sucks. I hate to break it to you though... not everyone's particularly rational on the forums. I'd take it with a grain of salt.
