(SNIPPED FOR LENGTH) phar Please note that LL is now in negotiations with AMAZON to bring their advertizing/business to SL -- this is why they wanted browser capability in SL - so that marketers like AMAZON could deliver ads in SL (like they think that if we want to buy something, we don't know how to open a browser OUTSIDE SL?)... and the next thing new to SL will be popup ads and takeovers by net freaks who use MSIE to deliver virii to us. Thank you SO freaking much, LL. _____________________

In my opinion, so what if we have children running around in the main grid? Sometimes they are better behaved than the adults. I became friends with several underage kids a few years back and one even became famous. And as for the sex, i don't understand why people feel they have to sensor it. Its a part of being human, and when they get older they will do it. Its not going to mess them up or anything seeing tits at age 6. I saw lots of hardcore sex when i was young and i turned out just fine....... i think.

You know, AW used to be a public metaverse as well, until the company that ran it linked up with some corps and decided it would make them more money if the corps were their primary customers. Once AMAZON et al. get into SL, watch out. Either SL will be overrun with popup ads and spammers or the entire place will be hijacked as a corporate training ground. They're just using the current residents as development dummies while they sort out the bugs and get the tech up to speed. _____________________

Did I say they were going to tell me anything? No. No I didn't. So why make this worthless comment? I only asked for the press release or a link to the article from where you got the information you posted. Nothing more. I would just like to remind some people here that the payment system is not, never was, and never will be proof of age. There is no system out there short of biometrics + certified biometrics database that can tell the age of the person using the computer. There is *no way* that you can stop teens from appearing on the main grid. It's easy to have one person login, then another person take over. Please get rid of the delusion that verified payment = age verification. That's not the reason LL put it in. It's been explained already that the listed payment and verified payment methods are there to track adult violators on the teen grid. You cannot join the teen grid without a verified payment method, thus if an adult is caught on the teen grid, LL has information (via the payment method) that they can give to the authorities. The purpose of the payment method is tracking violators, not screening violators. To address griefing from the unverified accounts, LL introduced the hashed system snapshot, which is only the first of the anti-griefing tools that was released. There are several more in the pipeline. Wrong Forum? |
