I hope they are. Its atleast ONE line of defense against 'contributing to the corruption of a minor' amongst other charges. If we can do that and any parents file lawsuits then the blame falls on the parent for allowing the minor access to credit card info etc, rather than on the person showing the mature content in the ADULT grid.

The verification checking tools are not for stopping griefers. There are griefers among the verified and probably less than 1/5 the unverifieds are griefers.
The purpose of the tools is to protect mature content providers from legal liability arising from display and sale of their wares. Verification is not proof that one is of age, but it is the accepted method by law, industry, and the general public with which to prevent access by minors.
