Perhaps there should be two lists of names to choose from, one list of good names and one list of stupid names.

I wish the forums had a feature like that for threads.

You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon.

Gee, thanks for explaining that. I had no idea.

I have a suspicion that if one took a list of names and separated them randomly and called one list good names and one list bad names, with the crowd that frequents SL ,the good name list would go largely unused.

I wonder if there is any correlation between name choice and behavior. Are the people who pick certain types of names prone to getting abuse reported and being found guilty? Any connection between name choice and income or landholding or such?

I can't help but think that Freelunch is not a good last name to have with the current crop of newbies and recent scamming behaviors. Mind you, I just met a newbie with that name who seemed nice and well-behaved -- but it just gives me some trepidation.

Why cant we have some traditional names? Gallagher, O'Reily, Scott, Cruise, Pitt, LOL yes ok I admit it I was going off in a fantasy with the last 2 :P

The problem I have is when ppl IM me with their 1st names they pick I cant tell if their male or female...its a personal gripe but I find I do talk more erm cocky? to what I percieve is a male then find out its a female and think ' omg I bet she thinks Im a real mouthy piece! '

Also I picked Filth ( which to my knowledge I am the only one? ) because when I joined SL it was very tongue in cheek was offered a free acount when I was at There.com....back then it was a big deal 'something free' now its standard marketing with LL so I just 'enrolled' and picked a stupid name because a) i didnt think id be staying and b) I thought it was funny.

DO I regret it? NOPE! ppl remember my name... and in my SL biz thats a good thing!

When customers approach me and say ' i shop at your store all the time dont u know who I am?' I cringe as very few names stand out... and those that do prolly arent my biggest customers...its just the other names are all 'samish' like roman Gods and Greek godesses and such like...mythology type names....celtic names...I cant remember them! lol

I want more FUN names, Jauani. But you certainly get points for scraping the bottom of the barrel, for something to make a dig about, in true SL tradition.

Freelunch did catch my eye, along with Poultry. But there aren't enough fun names on the list to choose from. They are too serious.

so says - cookie, koala, and shortbread

I thought they banned the last name Filth after folks were making names considered racist.
