I seem to be seeing more places with no roofs than there were a year ago.

It's hard to beat having the entire non-roof as an entrance.

Imminently logical!

Why are there so many solid windows?

I get tired of trying to go in a place with clear non-phantom windows.

Are people afraid the wind will blow their merchandise around?

I hardly build shops/bussiness' with entrances anymore, I just see it as being bound by RL boundaries. No one can come in and steal stuff, its not gonna rain, its not gonna get cold (yes I'm from the UK

)

My shop is a platform with.. Walls on the corners and sides, no roof or anything. Very sunny in Temotu anyway

Personally, I like having a RL-esque entryway, since my aesthetic tastes run more towards the traditional (I haven't seen an RL car design I like in 6 years), but I also like balconies and such, other ways of entering the building. Big open designs are nice, just not my thing.

I'm not making my roof phantom; my store also has only ONE entrance at the north end. However, the parcelportation locus is at the entrance (I'm not entirely evil).

Having a roof that is phantom is nice for people who want to fly away but I have landed on many a phantom roof and fallen through when I really wanted to stand on top.

More functional to not have a roof than to have a phantom roof.

The used to be a real nice store, to my tastes, that had no walls or roof, it just had a frame like thin pipes to delimit the store boundaries.

The display items, either static pictures or simple rectangular vendors, had panels behind them to tie them together visually.

This rested on a low platform.

Simple, no real restrictions to access, low prim, and it looked real good.

Interesting that the pictures of items really needed the backdrop. They just wouldn't have looked right just floating in the air.

In all seriousness, not all builds have to be the way people think is "optimal". I much prefer shops that have front entrances. What if someone wants to walk in instead of flying? We can't all be Goku.
