2 am is not the best time to uncover major exploits, but any time is better than none.
Not sure exactly sure what this exploit is, but I hope it gets fixed before serious damage is done.

ANOTHER MAJOR BUG! Try editing attachments and hitting undo! Holy crap... I seriously got bitched at by three club owners because I magically caused their object to move to the north west sim corner.... I can repeat this trick all I want, having no rights to the object and even if locked, it will FLY to the sim corner. To do it, just edit an attachment, use edit linked parts, move the parent prim, resize it, hit undo twice... Nine times out of 10, you'll be underground in the north corner of the sim and the object you sat on with you. Heh _____________________

A little warning might have been nice before getting booted off. 60 seconds to put things in inventory so work would not be lost.
Why would they pull the plug without warning? *sigh* |

While I'm not terribly happy about being locked out of the grid, I am glad to see LL taking such quick reaction to it.
Last year, there was a major script exploit that allowed people to view scripts they had no rights to view. The end result was that a griefer took a few thousand lines of LSL (including 3000 lines of my code) and posted it to a publically accessible website. I reported the bug, and we brought it to a Linden's attention the day before it the major attack happened. Had they taken action immediately, it would've saved a lot of people a lot of grief. So maybe this is progress? _____________________

There are alot of reports about content going missing in sims/inventory and land getting wiped. My guess its one of 3 things: either A) this update made the God Menu that was made available by the God Mode hack actually work, B) opened up a new hole for a new God Mode hack that actually enables everything, or C) the exploit resides on the Asset Server taking out content at the source.

I know the exploit and have been able to do it myself. This major exploit has nothing to do with god mode (I don't have it) and definately does not reside on the asset server. |

From what I read you can vanish an object by sitting on it.

It's more than just sitting on somthing. You have to have an attachment on you when you do it and then do somthing with the attachment (not sure what) and then you and the object you were siting on fly really fast. You stop at the edge of the sim but the item continues on. At least that's what I read...

I would certainly hope that the "exploit" they are addressing is actually the Texture Theft Tool. Personally, I feel the ability to easily steal any texture, regardless of permissions, from anyone in second life with a LL given tool is pretty bloody major.

When has SL ever been Stable?
07-23-2006 06:29
I will just be happy when SL is back up and stable.. I just spent major money on a new pc and still getting stuck in sl... wish they would stop with the upgrades and just fix the bugs. Stability would improve the economy. Who wants to spend l's when your items dont' work or dissapear? |

I kinda got the impression it was the attachment thing though, as a Linden was busy deleting all posts that referred to how to do it. _____________________
