Is it possible to sue someone in SL?
I heard that Aimee is trying to stop publication of Players Magazine because they are using an unauthorized photo of Aimee on the cover. My sources are shaky on this.  It brings up the question. Does a person have some legal standing in a case like this? Oh and in an urelated thread topic, being a lurker myself, don't ban the general and off topic. How boring. |

Until such a time as Aimee weighs in on the matter I would suggest that this bit of gossip be left to die.
As for the hypothetical question, the waters are extremely murky and are likely of too small a value to be tested in SL. The closest example I can think of that hit the real courts was some celebrity being asked to do a song or voice-over for a commercial. The celebrity declined and so the ad firm hired a "sound-alike". To my recollection the celebrity prevailed in court because her characteristic "personage" was misappropriated. But we're also talking about millon dollar plus damages which won't be realizable in SL for the forseeable future. |

I heard Aimee Weber once got annoyed with SL and bitchslapped the grid, knocking it offline for hours while the Lindens tried to convince the grid it wasn't it's fault, but Aimee was just ragging. Now the grid just does what Aimee says.

Edit: To get the grid down for maintenance, LL has Chuck norris look at the servers. Compliance is immediate. (unfortunately the preview was suppose dot be up wednesday and ti fainted) |
