Posts: 22 2:15pm SLT - Grid Going Back Down to Repair Sim Crashing Issues with 1.11 Release

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've been seeing repeated sim crashes related to a change in 1.11 around scripted email. We are investigating a fix and will post updates when we have more news.

At this point we expect that we will have to shut the grid down for a short period this afternoon to resolve the issue. Announcements will be made in-world if this proves necessary.

The annoncement says a few minutes.. based on previous experience, this usually means sometime before tomorrow.

Meanwhile, here's my betting pool:

3 rolling updates
2 emergency viewer patches (one today, then one tomorrow)
1 asset server overload/crash (tomorrow)
45,291 sex poseball failures
26 grid is down/grid is up posts
6 "where's my stuff??" posts
3 "omg this new screenshot stuff sux!" posts lagging behind everybody else's

Time for grid return: 9:45PM (PST) today, then down one hour later

Actually, no time is given at all. It says they are taking the grid down IN a few minutes...not FOR a few minutes.

The closest he gave to a time from was to say "...for a short period this afternoon..." which can mean most anything from minutes to hours.

What would people do if SL shut down, for, lets say 2 weeks.

Actuually, lets say it will not come back up for 2 weeks starting today.
What is your reaction?

P.S. At least we get updates. Look at TSO. No "update" since December LAST YEAR!

The closest he gave to a time from was to say "...for a short while this afternoon..." which can mean most anything from minutes to hours.

actually i didnt even see the word "while" in there so there was no time at all given

Correct, the word "period" was used, not "while", thus "...for a short period this afternoon...", which amounts to the same meaning as what I incorrectly quoted from memory. Thanks for the correction though...that's what I get for quoting from memory with a memory as bad as mine. =P

Umm...what was this thread about again? =O.o=

I believe this number will be substantially higher...with a few lawsuit threats over a 250L Doggie Multi-thrust speed poseball set ;)
