First of all they take away the $1.00 L for ratings and events that would bring people together in the sense of not compensationg people and groups for teaching and doing positive events in SL, the first one really did that. Now people stay in their own corner of sl not getting out, aside from with thier friends or groups and socializing and meeting new people. now it seems that with the new versions alot of the new features especialy are for the rich those who are wealthy enough to own islands and exented tier. how about the gestures for example they have been screwed up since version and why does not the person who i give rights to my stuff have rights to editing my land too? Think when one gives rights to ones stuff maybe a list of what rights you want to give them might be nice. not very many features are now for the ordinary middle class to lower financial class of SL. Think Phillip is acting like Present Bush he kisses the behinds of the rich and has no time for the rest of us. Like i said have seen Phillip many a times in the preview and sl and he ignores me just looks at me like i am some slum of the earth when i say hi and try to talk to him and Jesica Linden seem to think only her friends can make good mentors, greeters, and live help as i have been told i am not qualified. I have taught new residents, been a mentor and try to help new residents. Has anyone else been turned down out there in SL by Jesicca and want to help new residents then join my greeter group and help residents despite Jesica and feel free to help new residents anytime you want no one to say when and where and if you can or cant.

Why do you want to talk to Phillip? What makes him special? I don't get idol worship of this guy.

Who is Phillip? *blonde explain slowly* And how did I get Mentor/Instructor tags because who is Jessica???? Jeska...only talked to her once before and I managed to crash her since it was during a New Orleans Mardi Gras event and well everyone was crashing the sim was so overstuffed...does that make me a friend to get the tag?? Interesting...but I say apply again, perhaps they were backlogged or had too many people or whatever at the time.

When I talked to Philip he talked back. He was probably busy and not at his keyboard when you tried to talk to him. And I don't get how he could look at you like you were the scum of the earth if you can't even see his facial expressions in SL. And about the mentor thing. I applied for that, but I had a bad rap sheet, I tried anyways. If everyone that wanted to be a mentor/greeter/live helper were to become one, the groups would be too full and too many people trying to help. I think they probably look at how qualified you are by seeing how long you've been in-world, how you represent yourself, and how you attitude it. It's not you, so don't take it personally.

I feel dumber for reading this thread.
I'm far from rich, but I like SL enough that I'm currently paying out-of-pocket for my tier. Which happens to be the 4096 tier.
I spend spare bucks sometimes buying L$.
I'm a budding business owner in SL.
What's the issue?
Oh, less free money. Gotcha.

It isn't only the rich that own islands. Dragon Isle was purchased and is paid for by the collective work of 23 very ordinary people (all an extended RL family). We worked hard for more than a year in SL to get the L$ to cash out to buy the island. We still work very hard to sustain it. We are not rich and never will be. As to the new Estate tools. Awhile back I remember reading a post from a linden that in effect made it sound like Island owners were guinea pigs to test new tools for future implementation on the mainland. Weather this comes to pass or not is for the future. But I can assure you this process has not been handing us candy as many of these "features" prove to be buggy and sometimes disasterously do.

And if that booty has a shirt saying "BRAT" in glitter across the tits, it's immediately demoted to "white trash booty".

Here are a few thoughts.
1. People don't go to events because of the lack of Linden dollar handouts. The Events list is in sore need of maintenance. I don't even bother to look at them anymore. Most of the events are total bullshit anyhow. Is renting property an event? Is come see my store an event? NOPE. Unfortunately, the small percentage of actual events gets lost in the quagmire and you can thank all of the people who milked the system early on for causing the support well to run dry.
2. Of course, LL is going to give the island owners and higher tiered people priorty. They would be stupid not to. Linden lab is a business and most business models revolve around making money. I mean if you are going to plonk down $1000 USD on a sim and pay $200 a month you would want something in return wouldn't you and if LL was spending all of its time on frivilous features you'd probably wonder why you were shelling all of that money out. It may not seem fair, but why give more handouts to people leeching off the system for free? But, of course blame the perceived rich people, ones who actually have worked hard and struggled to maintain businesses in world.
3. Wow you ever think Philip might be busy and inundated with IMs while his is actually in world or on the preview grid? I know how many IMs Flipper gets as a non-Linden, I can only imagine how many IMs and stuff Philip must get when he is online. Being the CEO and all. I guess he must have soooo much free time on his hands. Really, how self-absorbed can you be to play "oh waaah cries Philip thinks Im scum and doesn't talk to me when I see him online". Cut the guy some slack he is probably busy. Have you actually ever met Philip in person? If you did you would probably think differently. I've met him a couple of times now and he seems to me to be a smashing down to earth bloke generally interested in meeting and conversing with the SL population. At this point, personally speaking, I have spent more time talking to him in person than I ever have in world, mind you I have only met him a couple of times. Lastly, Comparing him to Bush is assinine. Sorry. I mean why not compare him to Hitler or Mussolini while you are at it?
4. As for the mentor program and all that jazz I have no idea how it all works. I know Livehelp members have to have been in SL longer than 6 months I think. With the population growth I can imagine that there is also an onslaught of people signing up for such activities. While the population has doubled since the fall, I seriously doubt that the LL onsite staff has doubled as well. There are a lot of new lindens, but consider the ratio of Lindens per residents.

When did we get the "Slum (sic) of the earth" facial setting? How exactly can his pre-formed, unmovable due to animation restrictions, facial expressions glare hatred at you?
I'm betting that "Jessica" has elitest standards that require you to spell her name right and master the use of the period....

Granted I have limited knowledge of this having never really owned land dealt or have with land management since Flipper takes care of land stuff. It would make sense though in theory if it were true as the original poster purports. Why wouldn't LL want to appease those who are actually paying them money and a lot of it too versus the freebie accounters whinging on about how everhting should be free and the "rich" get preferential treatment etc.? I probably could have worded it better, but you know how those lengthy lunchtime distracted posts go when you are at work.

Agreed Michi it is absured that people that pay just as much tier on the mainland as an island owner are not percieved in the same class and according to some do not recieve the same treatment. (I say according to some because honestly our treatment as island owners is not better than what we got owning half a mainland sim. Others may have a different experience)

The differences between treatment of island owners vs mainland sim owners for some are vast and other unotticeable, but as a non-land owning Sim owner (if that makes sense) who doesn't deal with land management ever -- I can't really complain and we've been treated well for the past two years that we have owned Indigo.
