Asian skin for sale on SLX - resale or theft?

Someone named (removed) has an Asian skin on SLX which looks suspiciously good, considering that the rest of the stuff in the person's catalog is junk.

Would the professional skin designers here please take a look and see if this is a resale item or what?

Could you give a bit more info? There are hundreds of pages of skins and the name you gave yields nothing in search. A link to the page itself would be most helpful.

I gave the link, btw, not to bolster Merlyn's position, but to give the evidence, because this person, who is named, is innocent until proven guilty. She may just have a gift for skins, who knows.

First name is wrong. You can search for last name only to find who i suppose is the person in question.

Merlyn is correct. The skin in question is one of Starley Thereian's. It was sold in Starley's store (Celestial Studios) until through an exploit it was released with full permissions -- so she made it a freebie.

This person should not be selling this skin.

I really find this post to be incredibly offensive to say nothing about violating the TOS. You have absolutley no reason to even think this is a stolen skin other than you THINK the quality surpasses other items made by this member. Really, how dare you act so inconsiderately.

Every single content creator in SL had a learning curve. I have been here for a long time and have watched the progression of texturing skills for many content creators. Who is to say that this member has not improved with practice?

In addition, did you know you can buy premade skins ALL OVER THE NET? Ones made by advanced graphic designers and there are programs that stretch the skins to fit onto an SL avatar template.

You owe this member a big apology for your horrible behavior as well as a TOS violation sanction from LL. Even if this skin was made by another member the way you accused without knowing is totally inappropriate.

Yes, that is Starley's Malibu Passport skin. The person in question does say in the ad they are selling the avatar, including shape, skin and eyes.

Starley may wish to PM the site admin and have it taken down until the person can offer it without the skin.

The issue right now is not just the infrigement. There is also the matter of how you handled the case.

It's not good to defame anyone more especially since at the time you posted the evidence was not yet confirmed. A good way of presenting the case could go like this:

"I spotted an asian skin for sale that I believe is being used without the creator's permission. It is being sold as part of an avatar. I found it here <supply link>. I am suspicious because other items within the same catalog are of poorer quality relative to this product. Can someone investigate?"

It's not a matter of what was said, but how it's said. The example I present above makes no pronouncemnets and is merely a request for investigation.
