I got mugged in my back yard

Tonight I was out in my back yard working on some builds and this new guy (been in SL less then 2 days) walks up behind me with a gun demanding money from me and then shot me 4 times and continued to demand money from me anyway I sent the guy packing and filed an AR. Just thought I post this here as a warning to watch out for stuff like this or a good laugh

Sounds pretty funny to me. But, if the victim is new, they could get swindled. So, a definate issue to report as abuse. If this happens to me, I will report abuse, after I waste a lot of their time first.

Isn't there like a "freeze" button so that you can capture people causing trouble, and do all sorts of wierd things with them?

I'd have a pink tutu, a clown nose and rainbow coloured hair on prims which I would place around them, take a picture, and post it on the forums before booting them off my property.

Yeah there's a freeze button. Right click the person and use the pie menu to get to it. It isn't indefinite, if I remember correctly. But I'm not exactly sure how long it lasts. So keep all those excellent items handy so you can access them quick while they're frozen.

Any idea if a frozen person can elect to teleport home or somewhere else during the freeze? Or is the client totally incapacitated during that time. I seem to remember that not only are they frozen (can't move), but they can no longer chat in world for said time either.

I do know from experience--testing with friends, not actual bad behavior--that if you wear certain flightscripts and whatnot, it'll negate the freeze and you can fly away like a birdy. It does stop inworld chat momentarily, yes. And you can TP around the region you're in while frozen, but if you attempt to leave that region and TP far, far away, you'll get the TELEPORT IS BLOCKED message.

Good grief! There's even a way around the freeze (certain flightscripts). Hehe.

Just bust out the Lawgivers on his punk ass. I had someone try to mug me while I was watching a music video in a club. It put this entire cage around me (it looked like a giant hamster ball) so I armed myself waiting for it to go away and started shooting back! Was fun, I wish I got mugged more often in SL!

Sounds like the jerk i ran into the other day on my property, he shot at me so much that he managed to log me out i filed an abuse report

Maybe consider just the groucho glasses. It's faster.
Or maybe a "kick me, I'm a Doofus" sign or something.

Speaking of anecdotes, how's this for a stroll down memory lane: before I was ever in Second Life, I posted on the SLUniverse.com forums to ask why I had to pick a preassigned last name. Camille was one of those who helped me out on there! And that really encouraged me to join SL. So I must say a gracious thankyou!

I certainly hope Torley remains Torley no matter what last name is appended. Shove Torley in a button-down suit and take away her watermelon? No! I for one am glad to see someone with the last name "Linden" involved and joking around and doing more than the occasional, "vague corporate I'm here to dispel the rumors that we hate pie" comment.

Telling people about a way to get out of the freeze they get put in as a landowner's defense against bad behavior seemed a bit odd to me.

I would love for someone to try to mug me in my home. I'd get to test all my prototype security gizmos and weapons.

I don't think I could stop laughing long enough to pull a weapon out.

I probably couldn't either, but I sure would give it the ol' token effort.

Thats why I got shot 4 times before I sent him packing and also switching the land to damage so he couldn't get me on a PvP abuse

Yes I understand that..
but as far as dispersing real information..
there is a time and a place for flippant remarks.
When someone is frustrated or angry, a seemingly innocuous remark can do much harm.
