I recall that 100,000 was reached just before Christmas. So, doubled in about 4 months. Should we expect 400,000 in another 4 months... and 800,000 by year's end?
I like to consider what percentage of those next 600,000 folks will need to purchase genitals... a certain someone could quickly find himself selling lindens by the millions. Or what percentage will need certain types of clothes, or skins, or prefabs for their rented island plot, or poseballs for their skybox, or whatever. It's fun to do the math. Also, if population does quadruple, will we see upwards of 20,000 concurrent users every day? Will the asset server still be as 'fast' as it is now? Just something to think about. |

P2 Nope, 40k NWN link Prokofy Neva’s predictions on the state of Second Life in June 2006, if his advice is not followed I think it will continue to add members but it will churn and not grow that much bigger than what it is now, maybe 40,000 tops, certainly not going toward a million. |

Opinion:
I remember being very excited about getting to the 100k mark. However, now I'm less excited, because it is sort of like counting everyone who walks into a store, whether or not they buy anything. (Since it's free to walk in.) Still, the more people in, the more people will stay. _____________________

prok predicted that SL's population would hit 40,000 and then plateau or decline.
Even if you go with Eggy's "true number" of 60,000; that isn't the case. |

When Dwell and Stipends are finally eliminated and its much harder to earn an income by having 1000 accts on bots farming camping chairs, do you think the dramatic population increase will stabilize?
