Is there a preview grid running now with new interest list code and if so how does one access it?

Someone said they have a preview grid running with code that improves the interest list problems.
Is it true? Is it for Lindens only? I'd love to give it a try. _____________________

Well i've not seen or heard anything about it, there may be some slight confusions in that the old preview grids are up and running, but they are all restriced to employees, there will be some testing going on but no idea for what and on what grid.

Darn it, I forget his name, last name Petunia, first name starts with I.
Introvert Petunia said it. There was an announcement from the development manager today (sorry, too tired to search and link) acknowlegding that they broke something in the interest list in 1.7.x and that they think they've unbroken it on the preview grid already. This is good news. what he said There is a group called Introverts but it only has one member and doesn't accept outsiders. _____________________

What's the interest list? Its a list of textures assigned a priority based on their physical size and distance from your location, this happens dyamically as you move around so textures move up and down the list, textures located higher up the list are loaded into the client first and so on down the list. Its like the list that loads and unloads objects when you have passed them. There are problems with how this list is working as people see the grey textures, either images are loaded or unloaded too quickly, this can be because of the shape of an object or the distance it is from you, also the list might not be handling them in memory properly so textures get bumped off the bottom. There may be issues where its not processing the optimal amount of textures perframe, either loading or moving them around the list, or sending the requests off to the asset server/cache, and handling them when they come back. So as you can see it has many failure points for something that seems quite simple as to load your textures. _____________________

What about camera angle? Yes i think camera angle is used as well, as well as hovering over/selecting a texture/object with your mouse will move it up the interest list. _____________________

Sorry, I mis-remebered Karen Linden's Post which does say:
Ahh yes that bug, which only allowed 1 image to be decoded per frame, the fix for that was in that release and is on the main grid. _____________________
