I'm all for free speech, until it crosses the line of the ToS and CS we all agreed to. Profoky crossed that line many times, taking the time to put on a can-can outfit and high-kick across it on several occassions.

When the Impeach Buch guy crosses that line by putting those signs on other peoples' land, then I'll be all for his banishment too.

I suspect that sooner or later the Bush guy will end up crossing the line as well, and that will be the end of him. Until then, all we can do is wait.

He may indeed cross the line, but I wouldn't count on it. It really isn't a terribly hard thing to manage. Given that IBG doesn't appear to have any delusions regarding his relative importance and can take a nice barb, it shouldn't be too hard for him to maintain...unless of course the rules are changed on him and retroactively applied for something he has already done...

As for Prok, no fan, could not care less. Many of us manage to have unfavorable opinions and anti-Linden commentary without ever having to be warned for TOS violations. To be repeatedly warned and unable to alter one's behavior as a result is just silly.

Bottom line: Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

Prok can still play SL right? Prok still has thousands of outlets on the internet to express his views right? Prok could even get an alt and post on these forums. Prok had to work awefully hard to get banned, he had to see it coming. Unless someone can show us that Prok would come back and not start the same shit then why are we even discussing this? Its sad the one time I've seen LL use an iron fist (and even that took forever with many 2nd chances) that people are up in arms over it. I wish they did it more often.

Bringing prokofy back would further dilute the already questionable usefulness of these forums.

She didn't ever bring anything useful to the table, except for extreme paranoid ramblings and thinly veiled ad hominems. Go search for her posts, I'm sure you'll find amazing nuggets of wisdom.

There are good points to be found in there, honestly, but he does insist on putting them in rather difficult ways.

The issue of to what extend LL can disrupt SL's development as a platform by giving privileges to certain businesses that entrench them in the market for the foreseeable future is a useful one. As an analogy using another platform - when the Xbox first came out, MS bundled Halo with the consoles, but they didn't do that forever. What if they had made it forever? What if they had said anyone else who wanted a game bundled with the Xbox had to make a deal with Bungie for it to be included on the Halo disc? What if they'd used Halo as the testing ground for Live, on the grounds that because of the bundling they knew everyone had it? Where's the line between encouraging people to make good games like Halo, and weakening the platform by making it one for which there's no point writing another shooting game because MS won't let you beat Halo? LL are making some decisions which are of that type.

It should be of interest to the "Platform Party", who according their initial definition state that LL shouldn't intervene too much in economic matters - but doesn't that mean that positive intervention is bad too, because it's still intervention? Could have been an interesting discussion except it got lost in some bizarre flamewar between the article authors as a result of some ad hominem attacks and truly bizarre events in which material was dredged up and presented as a conspiracy, and others in which conspiracies were conconcted based on lack of knowledge (such as claiming that the system used by Snapzilla to read snapshots from e-mail was "possibly patented by Linden Labs and Cristiano". I can't be sure, obviously, but I think you could probably could the lines of Perl that do just that extraction bit without running out of fingers and toes..)

The business about the "SIC" was largely lost in the jokes about how it was another conspiracy theory, but there was a good question there too: is the "metaverse" being naturally developed into a New Thing Of Its Own by the natural evolution process of things within it, or does it need a person or group of people to find a niche or niches in the real world for it (or parts of it)? And if people do want to do that, how should that goal be offset against those who've done the work on the natural development side?

For the last time, Free Speech laws have exceptions for libel, slander, harassment, threats, and false emergencies.

If you're going to stand up for an issue like Free speech, it helps to do your background research. This is a slanted poll.

in my opinion, what PN did was surfing on the razor edge for too long, staying just behind the line of the personal attack, so the offended would break the rules by fighting back, sure prok is probably clean and proper inworld, but thats because we can send chat logs as abuse reports at any moment.

PN proved that she was able to disturb totally a whole forum, to me the forum is a little extention of what is inworld and she should have been permanently banned alltogther, it would have been the perfect example agains all the trolls wannabees. And i dont think we need this kind of person in SL, and itsnot about free speech but about very very bad behavior.
