Hi :-)

I hope you are all having the nice Holiday Seaon. I am writing today to let you know that I'm getting some help in addressing ANSHECHUNG.COM related topics on the forums. As you may know I am one busy bee and it has become increasingly hard to try keep up with things here and respond to questions in timely manner. Keltrien Baker has been part of our team as community angel in Dreamland and he will post for our team when I can't be around here myself. He'll keep you updated on new programs and cool stuff as we will release it in the future and he will also try to be available as one more direct contact for questions than what I could provide myself. Please give him a nice warm welcome :-)

Yours

Anshe

Notices and Well-wishes? The above post would seem to me more fitting than 3/4s of what does get shuffled there. *shrugs and returns to lurking*

It could have been worse. We all could have gotten a notecard about this in world instead. ;)

Thanks Anshe!

I'm excited about this new roll helping Anshe and the rest of the Dreamland team out in handling announcements, PR, and customer relations. I've been a lurker 'round these parts for a while now and know what kind of crazy job I'm getting myself into.

A quick little bit about me, just so you know the kind of guy you're dealing with. I'm 27 and live in Boulder, Colorado with my wife and two adorable little girls, 3 and 1.5. I have a great cat named Fee and run my own design, marketing, and branding firm. I'm an environmental entrepreneur, I coach High School Ultimate Frisebee, and I rock climb.

I was born in New Hampshire, started a dot com when I was 20, and once had a conversation with Sinbad at a Quicktime conference on how to build online communities. The guy knows his tech stuff!

I got started in the MMOG genre when I started playing Star Wars Galaxies on launch day. In two years time I built up the game's largest player corporation and focused on throwing big parties, weekly events, player quests, and RP shtuff.

In SL I'm the Dreamland Events & Community Development Angel, which means it's my job to give people something fun and immersive to do with their time.

I started up the Dreamland Events Grant and will be opening up a new venue in Plush Gamma in January. We'll be running four nights of unique and fun events a week to start, working up to seven and expanding from there.

I also just partnered up with the great Kendra Bancroft recently to form KB Development. We're building luxury houses on superb plots of land for resale, mostly because it was easy to come up with a name for the company.

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. It's nice to meet you all, now let me go and put on my flame proof suit, I think I'm going to need it.

;)

Don't worry Gladius, we'll be sending out notecards to all 100,000 SLers tomorrow, I'm just waiting to get the full list from Anshe.

;)

On a serious note with the notecards, I am in the process of building an opt-out list for any AnsheChung.com or Dreamland related correspondence. It hasn't been a regular practice of ours to send out unsolicited notecards, but please know that we are hearing what people are saying on this issue. While I personally don't mind getting unsoliciated notecards, I fully understand and respect that some people do.

I dont feel that anyone should have to opt out.... I feel if someone wants to sell something, be it land or whatever they are smart enough to decide who to sell it to without having to be asked if they want to sell. And trust me, I will AR anyone who does this to me and I will not feel its my obligation to have to spend my time opting out on anything....
kthxbye

BTW, why is this in the General forum?

I totally respect that view Toy. We haven't generally made it a habit to send out unsolicited notecards and don't see it as something we'll be doing much of in the future. I'm building the opt-out list in the event that we ever did any mailings beyond personal ones. I'm sorry if anyone ever gets an unwanted notecard from Dreamland, but it should only happen once, if at all, if you just give me a shout. Toy, I'll just add you to that list.

But, like I said, unsolicitated notecards are not really in the marketing and sales plan for Dreamland, so there isn't much to worry about from here on out.

But in theory you'd only have to do it once.... and, after all, it'll take a lot less time than it did the other day with my streaming audio problem you helped me with. It'd also take a lot less time to respond than filling in an AR.

Lewis, I enjoy helping people and the time I spend on it is my choice, Recieving spam would not be my choice, hence a waste of my time.
I wont have anyone waste my time unless its my choice. :)

One question.

Is it the policy of AnsheChung.com to label individuals as "childish" or "jack asses" if and when they express an interest in opting out of your communications? If not, was that a policy change enacted in the last six hours?

Enabran, I've been on the job for just a few hours, but you can assume that it is now very much a policy not to label anyone anything, especially "childish" and "jackasses".

Also on the list of no-no words are "sockmuppet", "asshat", and "republican" or anything else along those lines.

;)

I'm going to make a wild guess and add you to the opt-out list as well Enabran.

Firstly, let me save you some trouble by suggesting an opt-in list. If a person is not in a group or on Anshe's friends list, it's unsolicited and against the TOS.

Secondly, I hope you got thick skin. Anshe wasn't rezzed yesterday.

What happened with the notecard was a pretty isolated incident. We don't normally send out unsoliticited notecards and especially after today, will tread very carefully when sending anything out. We may be evil, but we're not stupid.

Hehe

I wish you the best of Luck Keltrien, I hope you have studied the background a bit, to understand where people are comeing from considering Anshe. You seem like a smart and polite guy, lets hope the forum doesn't make you jaded.

I think it's a good choice to have a offical spokeperson in the forum for any business that gets large enough to have multiple employs. We have seen in recent history that employes of a larger business where contradicting each other and made the whole business look bad(or worse ;) ).

Oh, I did my homework, I know all the players and plotlines in our little drama that we call the Second Life forums and what I've gotten myself into.

:)

I just got hired for this new position last night, so there may be a day or two of overlapping while all the AnsheChung.com employees get a heads-up on our new policies.

Do you know why I wanted to do this so badly? The time I've spent with Anshe has convinced me that there is a big disconnect between the real Anshe and how some people see her on the forums. The Anshe I know is a really sweet, caring, and energetic person who just so happens to be running the biggest virtual company in history. I've heard time and time again from people who had one opinion (maybe a not so nice one) of her only to have that flip once they actually get to meet her.

Overall, I was expecting a lot 'flamier' welcome from the forums, so I appreciate all the kind words. I will enjoy my honeymoon period while it lasts.

/me chuckles
