Nope, still no Havok.

I made a tail ... head ... thing. Headtail. With hardware lighting.

Then made it a regular tail.

Then added plywood ribbons to my spinny mandala

And a huge Caledon flag in my hand.

And a Caledon cape.

Superheadtail lit-up victorian cape-flag-ness.

Helpful tip: Vertex Shaders caused some extremely funky avatar mesh distortion on my system (e.g., torso meshes wafting about, detached from the avatar's location, and sometimes turning two-dimensional, head mesh vanishing without warning). So if you get that problem, try turning them off (they are enabled by default).

Well I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with this. It's nice to see logical interfaces added, such as the highlighted light sphere that visually shows you exactly how far your light reaches etc. - that's neat.

Love the flexible prims as well - the movement is really neat.

And then there's the small things, such as the 'When Left-Clicked' select box on the edit screen - that's really nice. Being able to set what happens when a user touches an object is very useful.

My FPS seems a little low, but hopefully that will get better before release. Also, were the LSL commands implemented for control of the light and flexible settings yet? Please say yes! Or if not, please say they will be before 1.9.1 gets a full release :)

PS. Shiny + Transparent looks great as well :D

In the name of all my animals' hair and feathers, thank you LL for deformable prims :)

And: flowing capes at last :D

Waah I wanna seeeee!

I was sent one piccy by a friend, but I didn't get to see the fluttery action.

But it's terraforming weekend on the main grid for Desmond, because the new sim showed up so fast.

And hey! I heard a rumour that Classifieds are gonna be auto-renew! That means more profile-pick-y goodness for ad cut-and-pasters like me.

Well, this is still static, but it shows some of the flexiness.

Am I the only one who experiences an 'insta crash' when trying preview?

Nope... I do too. Can't get in at all... tried to log in several times last night, crashed instantly every time. I'd really love to see the new lighting and flexyprims, if I could ever get in.... :(

I hope LL takes the time to make this a quality release, because it's really a huge step forward and I think if this is released on a strong and quality note, there will be a lot of new found (and richly deserved) respect for the team.

I was very impressed by my experiences with the lighting, the flexible, and the http request.

So far all I have learned is the insta crash feature works very well.

I hope some day I get to see the rest

Please be sure to send in a crash report if you experience crashing and other anomalous behaviour with the Preview.

There are graphic processor specific features (Hardware lighting, flexible objects etc) in the new client which we need to make sure are tested and working, and crash reports and bug reports send us valuable information about your hardware setup that will help us make sure that they work with as wide a range of hardware configurations as possible.

So please pile into preview and test and report. Thanks!

On the plus side, we won't see this update hit the main grid til the instacrash is dealt with...

on the downside, we still can't limit prim hair to under 300 prims:(
