I met someone who makes me truly happy in SL, so that's pretty darn good to me.

I can bend my SL body in ways my man can only dream of IRL....
I can dance without reaching exhaustion....
I can shop endlessly without guilt....
I can move entire buildings with a slight finger dance....
My land is purple.....
I can appear in any form I desire....
I have encountered people I would not take the time to know IRL.
Its all about imagination and expression of creativity, and that is good.

Doing business in Second Life dramatically expanded by food budget in my final months of college. Which was awesome.
It's also a dramatically powerful conduit for imagination and creativity. That part often can't be understood by the uncreative, but it's the most important use of the platform I can think of currently.

It let's me vent my Aspergers-fueled creativity bursts in a safe (-ish) manner than if I were to sketch or model something. And I can be as much of a smartarseholewomanizerniceguy as I want, and people still like me.
And apparently, even if I think something I made is crap, other people still love it and beg for a copy.

SL has provided me a creative outlet in a different medium. I use the 3d tools and make more use of my PS software. It's not as messy as pastels or watercolours. SL also pays for itself for me. I dont know any other hobby that helps me to buy groceries and pay bills too. For that I'm happy. The best good it has brought to me are the close friends I've made. Especially if said friends send me bricks of chocolate.

It kept me off the streets, where I'd be using a super fusion-powered electromagnet to play Katamary Damacy in Downtown Dallas.
Oh shit! He just rolled up City Hall! Flee!

Second Life enabled my family to have our second child. No joke. The extra income I earned last year in SL was used to purchase all inclusive medical insurance. Without that insurance we would not have been able to afford our second child.

SL allows me to present my ideas in visual form. At one point I tried learning to draw. My mother, sister, and brother could draw in some manner, and they were pretty good. But when I was trying to learn, I had too many great artists as friends, and frustrated myself trying to get up to their level. So I gave up on that. Learning conventional 3D programs felt tedious.. But SL's prim system is cool. It's like Legos!
Plus, I discovered how I might've been with people if my brain ran at the same speed as everyone else's(the common delay in text chat helps with that muchly).

My RL work often requires me to interview famous people from overseas without an interpreter, which used to make me very, very nervous. Speaking English for me is like running two operating systems on one CPU, and my brain used to freeze a lot. Thanks to my fabulous friends I made in SL and all the chit-chatting, I don't need to run to the bathroom anymore, though I haven't found any practical use for all the swearwords and stuff I learned from them so far.

I just need to figure out how to make it pay for itself. lol I've been building in 3d environments for years but this is the first one that I've ever encountered one that I could actually make and sell things in world *cringes at the thought of ever going back to AW*. Now if people would just get over the "newbies can't build" attitude....

fyi: I got a army solder (older) brother that says its a waste of time and has no point -.- which I disargee So far it's making me $150 USD a month. Not counting sales from stuff I build. Energy is still only the cost of two light bulbs on 24/7 and in fact hasn't gone up at all for us. Since we have these computers on 24/7 anyway. Largest pullout so far was $361.60 USD in one month since I started. Back when we had L$5 chairs. SL is good to us in many ways. So yeah it can be a waist of time cause that extra $361 USD can only buy some people a candy bar apparenlty? Dunno where they live but I don't wanna go there heh. I guess it isn't much for some people but to most of us in reality, with real bills, that sure helps out. I don't think most people are ready for SL so they don't know how to take it yet. It will lose its "gold mine" aspects eventually I think, but for now, it's done good for lots of people in lots of ways.

Second Life has probably made it so that I'll never toleratate working for somebody ever again.
I have a love/hate relationship with Second Life. It's like the strict father that is constantly kicking your ass. But when you look back, you realize how in many ways how he helped you.

I don't think I am not going to play any other any games... :> I am funny that i finally joined SL about 1.4 months ago great thing about SL not only Game freaks(like myself),Artists, business owners, etc play this game so you can find someone you know in SL that maybe a great help to you in real life , me the only thing I want to do is grow a world of dragonspace (A world that I made up about when I was 13) I would like to make 12 sims for it but that would be a mass money cost :<, I am poor, but I want to do something like that some day. A Space of Dragonspace dragons (well Duh.) Aliens,Humans,Humanoids, furrys, robots(or reploids or cyborgs) in peaceful worlds its natrual not light or dark.. well its a dream.. Dreams can be reached so far, there is hope but I will get there sometime..

I went through a huge creativity block a few months before I logged on to SL. I couldn't and didn't even want to draw a thing. After being in SL for a short period of time my creativity came back. The building tools in SL kinda re-opened my eyes again. For me it's like drawing in 3d. It also has made me better at drawing because it helps me focus on perspective.
Met some great people here who have had nothing but words of encouragement for me since my days in Morris sandbox as a scared noobie. Enabran, DJ Under, Ingrid and many, many more. Thanks to all. What fun!

SL paid my rent during a month when my RL job thought it would be funny to not pay me. I'm not sure I'm ready to live entirely off SL yet, but I sure as fuck thank it for being there and helping me through some rough spots. The live, collaborative building tools are certainly fun. I've worked on software projects in the past with better tools (3dsmax), but SL enables people to build and code stuff live in a consistant world. I really, really like that, as proprietary as SL is. I've had a lot of fun with my friends making stuff.
