Hate to say it, but... that's just too bad. It's in LL's own policies to not interfere -at all- with inworld item sales beyond TOS violations. They specifically state 'caveat emptor', and have a statement about not being responsible for inventory loss. *Shrugs apologetically*

They did a rollback. Did your L$ increase to where it was early this morning?

In all fairness to the lindens, they made an announcement to pick up EVERYTHING you put out TODAY before the grid went down. If you didn't pay attention to the announcement, it's your own fault.

What if you weren't online, inworld, or able to get in-world to do so? I know I only long on twice a day, once first thing in the morning, and once right before bed...I wouldn't have seen an announcement in time to do anything about it. Personally I think it's unacceptable. If they're going to do a roll back they need to help replace lost $L's and lost items or give enough 24 hours notice so people who aren't on all day can act on any anouncements being made. |

24 hours notice You have GOT to be kidding. Did you see the thousands of drama-queen posts when the grid was down for mere hours, and you are suggesting a day!?? If they gave a 24 hour notice before rollback today, SL would not be up until tomorrow evening. And the way some people are acting today, I would be fearing for my life and avoiding clocktowers if I was a Linden during a 24+ hour downtime. _____________________

I was given, literally, two minutes between that announcement and being logged out. Things that I had put down hours earlier vanished -- I couldn't even have *gotten* to my Skybox in time to save my build, so... Yeah. I don't know what else to say but calling vanishing items our fault maybe isn't entirely fair? |

no one said 24 hour DOWNTIME

The statement asked for a 24 hour NOTICE. that's different, and really not asking too much.

How many equivalent USD pennies are we talking about this time? Sometimes it is the principle of the issue that matters. Not the monetary aspect, regardless of the amount. Briana Dawson _____________________

Seven minutes was enough time to go through My home and pick stuff up. _____________________

its a shame...

Sorry you lost your things Charisima, roll backs are rough on alot, and you never quite know how far back that they will go, so wether you set something out 2 min ago or 2 hours ago, its in danger of being gone. Call Live Help and see if theres anything that they can do to retrieve it, surely in all the glory of SL someone did a back up?? or am i nuts for assuming such a thing?
SL really needs to consider what these disasters do to everyone from Anche on down, and think twice before setting out a fairly untested patch, that from the looks of it was not checked for problems or completed correctly. Theres things all over i note that are missing now, for instance, the last 2 tick boxes on the map preferences...my boss would have had my head for such sloppy work... I am really dissapointed in todays changes and hope that LL has a big ass kicking meeting about all of this and hopefully will make changes to better serve their customers. |

Rollback Losses
07-20-2006 01:37
*sighs*
I totalled my losses at ~L$1500. I set something down that I had in my inventory at the 8am SLT rollback time. So... it's gone now. I contacted someone in Live Help and spoke to an actual Linden and she said: "Submit a bug report." *double sigh followed by queasiness* Now I know that in the grander scheme of things, L$1500 isn't all that much, but come on! It wasn't my fault that they released a bad update. My submitted bug report asked for either some kind of item restoration, which I highly doubt can be done if I understand the announcement of why the rollback happened, or if that cannot be done, I requested reimbursement of that L$ amount. I fully expect to have to eat that loss, but I am hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised. -K |

Yeah, they gave us all of 7 minutes to take into our inventories all that we'd built that day - Well... (scratches chin) if I was to be honest? That's not much comfort, having spent all day (minus update time) building two large structures, one of them far too big to select or reposition in one piece/group. Frustratingly, the same thing happened to me last week on a smaller scale, only that time my inventory was rolled back too. Oh well, I guess Wednesdays are now the SL public holiday? That would suck, it's the worst TV day of the week. ![]() |

It's clear that, like in many other MMORPG's, patch day is not the best day to launch into wildly ambitious projects like very large builds. Use common sense and be careful when you decide what to do on those days.
It sucks, yes. But SL is not the only culprit and it will save you some frustration. Wendel |
