What passion! I see this thread as a great political piece, a call to attention for others to take notice at a perceived leadership problem that is getting lost in discussion and bureaucracy. You were made for the RA. :)

I too, despite having left the City, still share this passion to protect the ideals on which the city is based. It was what made me come back despite the fact that I knew I'd have to endure sophomoric snarky posts and name calling. Yet it's worth it to know for now I'm serving and promoting the ideals around which my life is centered and the city is based.

So rally the SDF and woo the MPP and see if you squelch this madness in the RA before it even makes it to the SC. ;)

I'm just taking a cue from Feingold.

BTW, if you are in a zone that allows both modern and medieval builds your ability to have a floating hot-tub was never in question. It's perfectly legit in any area that isnt zoned for medieval only.

Certainly when I was Gildemeister, Id have had no problem with it.

But then --I might be lying mightn't I?

Read your own covenant. Hot tubs are disallowed in the outdoors, and ALL floating builds ANYWHERE are disallowed.

In any case, I got the report post thing, and I would like to reiterate, it is no insult, but simple fact.

* Ulrika claimed she was leaving SL and these forums forever. She did not.

* The claim was made on her own website, neualtenburg.org, that this was an experiment in a "democratic" government. It is not.

* Ulrika made claims regarding the "real-world" Neualtenburg co-op, and the pages of her website bore such a claim in the copyright statement. The Neualtenburg Terms of Service further suggest such an organization. No such entity has ever existed.

* Her debating style heavily involves making false claims, stating her opinions as facts, and similar poor tactics.

All of these things are statements that Ulrika has made that are at variance with reality. We call such statements "lies", and those who make them, "liars".

I do not trust the words of liars. I see no need to honor a government built on such lies. These things bothered me ever since Dianne brought up the great errors of the Neualtenburg government structure; it is only now when Ulrika and yourself are baldly stating your intent that I came to my current standpoint. I see no need to move for impeachment; there is nothing to impeach but an illusion.

Yipes. This is nasty stuff. I don't want any part of this rage. This is the kind of unmitigated hate (where's the SC when you need it) that pushed me out of SL so many months ago. It's just selfish immorality.

With that said, I returned to stop what I thought would be the evisceration of one of the most important parts of the constitution. I did this even understanding that I would be villified by folks. So I am prepared for this.

When's the IP hearing?

Hi Ulrika!

When's the IP hearing? Are you at all amenable to settling with the city out of court?

The hearing has not yet been discussed or scheduled, merely alluded to. As soon as the forum brouhaha is settled, I'll approach the government directly.

I'm open to direct settlements, any of the forms of arbitration listed in the constitution, and even an external thrid-party arbitrator. However it is done, I want it to be through official government channels. It's good for the city.

You might consider private messenging Claude with direct settlement terms. I'd consider donating to settle directly. All of this would be discussed in the RA and reported out of course and the funds officially handed over by the city in theory.

I just think we could eat up too much time and limited city resources with a long protracted media circus. I think most agree that you should be compensated. Think of it as a flower. :)

Although this is the wrong thread to discuss it, since it was brought up here, I personally agree on a direct settlement. There is one good reason for it. Ulrika, you have talked about the IP rights — but what about all of your work?

On this thread you ask the city to put up a budget to pay for past work in the city (including, I assume, city-related off-world work, like the website, the vendor system, and the voting booth).

I agree it might be easier to discuss "payment for past work" through direct settlement (since it's relatively easy to see what work was done!) than to make a claim regarding IP rights (always a mess when there are co-authorship issues). One reason is that there are good guidelines for estimating the value of building in SL, based on the area that was built, while no such guidelines exist for the use of IP rights.

Still, I'd ask Ulrika some patience and the will to discuss it the upcoming week, either directly through IMs/emails with the city officials (a process that can be started right now), as per Pelanor's suggestion, or by insisting on a hearing for filing IP claims, which should also take place by the end of next week.
