ummm.. Don't give an ultimatum and then expect it solved in the first few hours/days of the post... Ulrika.. this goes beyond even the drunken requests I bestow on my friends.. for shame!

First.. as per our constitution and bylaws... anything created for Neualt remains property of Neualt.

Second.. you have not even given the RA a true chance to meet and work in a budget for past work

Third.. this past term.. we went over build by build determing what the city should and should not pay for based on city need and we DID work a budget for the guild builds

Fourth.. we accepted the proposal that some things would be built without payment due to artistic need

Fifth.. yeah past works were done.. but damn if others didn't know what the fuck was going on nor did we know what we could or could not build.. or do when and where.. NEVER has the guild made it clear HOW to present works.. thankfully this last RA term brought these actions in motion and finally the guild could start getting paid.. I personally worked hard to see this happen.

sixth.. you were party to this confusion and growth.. My time is worth no less or more than yours. ... and yeah you may have built this city's structures... But it was Gwyneth, Kendra, Aliasi, Sudane, Garnet, Eugene, myself. and coutless others that really brought the people in.. you may have done these works, but no one would give a damn if we had not shown them to do so...you have no social skills Ulrika.. despite your talent and really amazing intelligence..,

seventh.. yes.. I'm the longest running member on the RA..I've loved every minute serving for this ciyt/project... and I've had stuff going on in my life the whole time. You just had a child.,., I deal daily with an autistic child... I WOULD NEVER make Neualtenburg choose to pay me for all my RA time while faced with the ultimatum that if they did not do so I'd turn my back on them

eighth.. I've always admired and liked you Ulrika.. but this is just too much. You are blackmailing the city and acting like we have said point blank you won't receive a dime. After years of defending you to others. I just have to call bullshit on you as well. Because you haven't even given the RA a chance to meet and decide. You have made your choice and be damned our rules.

In one thread. you have managed to try and prove all the naysayers correct. That you and you alone were the dictator and ruled this city.

Fine. Do your worst. Neualtenburg will survive. We are stronger than you think despite how you condesend us.

Er.

Looks like I waded into a political battle.

Sorry. That's what I get for searching for my name every week. :)

I'll withdrawal any architectural support (tenative or otherwise) until things calm down.

Ok, this will probably get deleted, but... here it goes......

Most people who read the off-topic forum know Ulrika thinks I'm not worth the space I occupy. But in reality, I think she like having me to kick around. After reading this I have a few comments.

I think I understand where Ulrika is coming from, tho I disagree with her way of handling it. For one, she did a lot of work, before builders started getting paid. Secondly, new users enjoy her builds without any required contribution.

Now she is finding the costs of a baby to be very high, and the time issue is constantly in her mind. Perhaps she feels as though her time is much more valuable, now there are competing interests.

But she wrote the rules. She shouldn't remove anything, she should sell it all to the group under the name of Kendra or another senior officer who has been around the longest time.. The governing board might offer her something for her effort out of good will, but I think she wrote herself into a corner she never figured to be in. She wrote in strong rules to use against those under her, now it's biting her butt.

I believe anyone who has skills to build what others like should be able to cover SL and high-speed internet in sales proceeds. Ulrika does(build things worthy of recompense). . And the great thing is once the items are built they sell and replicate themselves. Which gives the builder more time to build or play with the baby.

If she listened to me, which she doesn't, I'd say "Tier down, set up a small store on the small land, and stay." That's my suggestion. But what do I know?

But she wrote the rules.

I know I should just let this thread die, but I feel as an elected official responsible for promoting the city, that I need to correct this misconception.

No *one* person wrote any rules for Neualtenburg. Nor will any one person ever have the power to do so.

A group of people gathered and created a government based on a Constitution that we all together wrote. Neualtenburg is unlike most "groups" in SL because we go a step further and have an actual government in place. With checks and balances for each branch.

The laws we have, and the Constitution we created is greater than any one person. And they make it so that this city and its government will survive no matter who may come and go (except the God Lindens themselves if they blow up the world).

This was not a post to agree or disagree with you Kevn. Just a clarification of how Neualtenburg works in case anyone is reading and interested. :)

Adams and Jefferson

Even though individuals can have dramatic impact on the formation of a government, the continuation of that government depends on the combined actions of many and the structure of laws they create.

For those in the US, tonight on PBS is a video profile of John Adams of Massachusetts, one of the founders of the United States. He is regarded as a prime author of the Constitution of the United States, which was derived from the Constitution of the State of Massachusetts. He died on July 4, the Fourth of July, 1826, just a few hours after the death of Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, signed 50 years before to the day.

Both Adams and Jefferson were giants, to whom all who value democracy owe an eternal debt.

Among Adams' last words were these: "Jefferson still lives." The United States, the spirits of these men, and the example they set, continue though they are gone.

A government of men (or women) passes when they do. A government of laws still lives.
