Also I would like to ask the wonderful scripters if someone could get a "event permit chit vendor", as proposed on another thread (sorry, have been searching our forum, but can't find it).
Basically this is a simple vendor selling two types of chits: 1) One chit/permit to host "free" events, ie. the ones not sponsored by LL, and thus free of taxes (since they do not generate income). 2) One chit for "contest-type" events, which are sold for L$ 25 (assuming the tax level is 10% - and assuming also that the hoster gets L$ 250 for the event and the L$ 500 are really to give away as prize money?) 3) One chit for "Mentor" events, which are sold for L$ 50 (again, assuming the tax level is 10%) The money should go to the Treasury. To make it more interesting, it would be nice to have some sort of "voice commands" to be able to classify the event better, say, "Contest on 2004-12-01, 4 PM PST" or so. This would go as an IM/email to the Guild for processing, and the chits would be "stamped" in a way with that information as well (hah, I know that's a hard one to script!). Thanks, guys ![]() _____________________

Sad to Report

I just wanted to let everyone know, if you havn't noticed, that I have drastically cut the amount of time I spend in SL. It's a combination of RL getting busy and playing World of Warcraft.
I'm very sorry, and good luck. I will stop in occasionaly, and suspect rejoin SL after January. =Satchmo= |

Ulrika, I can make one of those quick.
Gwyn, I can probobly script that, but specify for me for a second- You want it to vend token-type thingers, that enable you to host events? Do you want them to reserve a timeslot of something? Just need a little clarification. _____________________

Just need a little clarification. Sorry to answer to this only today, after promising to do it "soon" when we last met in-world ![]() As you know, objects are sold through Guild-approved vendors, and this is already set in place. One of the reasons for that (besides aesthetics and the Guild defining "vendor-approved" zones) is handling taxes. However, services are more hard to "tax", namely, event hosting, since they're a service, not a product. Clearance is made through the Guild (ie. you're either allowed or not to host that event) and in the future the City Government will probably have a saying on which spaces the Events can (or not) be hosted. So, for the moment, "clearance" is probably not as important as... paying taxes ![]() Basically, what we need is a way for event hosters to pay taxes ![]() The simplest way to do that seems to be a vendor like I described. There is just that - you buy the chit, and that is the proof of payment. I mentioned to do it in a similar way as the SL Lotto (see Tiger Crossing's post on this thread) since it will be the only way to set things like a timestamp or a non-mod description on the chit to make sure it is possible to use it as a "sales receipt". _____________________

Here's what I'm thinking- The chit will give access to things like a land banner, other services, etc, around the city necessary for an event. Hosters will reserve a timeslot, and when they do, it will IM important people that give authorization to host in the city. Sound good?

New system needs to be designed: Bonds issued by the City of Neualtenburg
03-06-2005 13:23
Hello all scripters,
The recent RA meeting has set up the basis for the new finantial model of Neualtenburg, with a Finantial Committee which will deal with the issues related to money. One thing the Finantial Committee will deal with is the way we can get "loans" from citizens, until Neualtenburg is self-sufficient and able to pay for all costs by itself. My own proposal was to make these loans based upon Government-issued bonds. For starters, these bonds will have zero interest, but the RA may approve an interest rate in the future. As you know, bond issuing has been discussed thoroughly in the SL "Land and the Economy" forum, and there are a few projects going on. Unlike them, who rely mostly upon the reputation of a single resident, Neualtenburg-issued bonds will have the City of Neualtenburg and its Government as guarantees. In terms of "SL mechanics", what this means is, we need a special vendor which delivers out scripted objects called "Neualtenburger Bond", which are unique, non-copy, but transferrable. The only thing we need is a way to have a "central management system" that keeps track of the current owner of the bond, for the purposes of accountability (and a way to pay interest on the bonds, if that is ever acccomplished). Initially, I think we'll start by issuing 30 bonds at L$1000 each (but we may change that after discussion, so the "bond issuing device" should be flexible enough to handle that). The first loans will be made "manually" since we don't have that device yet, but afterwards, I think we'll be able to have the "bond issuing device" at the city's main square, and anybody - not even a citizen - will be able to buy them. Technically this is a simple vendor - you just pay the vendor, and get the bond, and that's it. As soon as all bonds have been sold, the vendor will stop working. The bonds cannot be sold back to the City Treasury for a while - let's say, 6 months - but, of course, you may transfer them to new owners. When the bond "matures", you may sell it back to the Government - this will probably mean dropping the bond back into the machine. The device should only reply to commands from the three soon-to-be-created alts who will embody the Bank of Neualtenburg - the holders of the City Treasury, under control of the Finantial Committee. They should be able to issue new bonds at the device and the value of each bond, as well as setting the current interest rate (currently, zero). The system should also track the current bond owners, and you should be able to get a list of them for accountability (in the future, this could be done via a Web site), have a voice command to IM all bond owners (just to let them know about news), and a command to pay interest on a weekly basis (as said, this is low priority, since the first batch of bonds will pay no interest). Since this will get the people posting at the "Land and the Economy" drooling, I expect that this project will be very interesting, and my own estimate - from the perspective of an amateur scripter, at least - is that it won't take so much time to create. I'd like to challenge the Guild to work on this project! _____________________

Just to let you know I'm curren tly working on the renting script. Its counting down the days at the moment, and I'm waiting to see if it switches to "Avaliable to rent" after the lease period is up.

Catfart, I imagine that you are able to script those to send the money directly to the Finance commitee, right? You can split the amounts between more than one avatar?

Gwn,
Yes I dont see why not. I'll put the names of the receipients in a notecard so they are easly changable. Do we have all the names yet? _____________________

With the system as it stands now, you wouldn't have to send them to more than one avatar. But you MAY have to be able to change the name of the avatar.

Are we talking about the landlord and Uma (the treasury) or has an alternate system been created that I missed? ~Ulrika~ _____________________
