I do lots of building in SL and have a fairly successful store -- but one thing I *really* need to do is stop expecting my customers to assemble things. I break my builds into 2-3 easy-to-align chunks and give instructions, but that is SO not optimal and frankly not as professional as I'd like. I tried "Builder's Buddy" but found it was not 100% reliable. I'm willing to shell out the bucks for a solid, professional solution. What's out there that y'all recommend? What do the big builders use? Thanks!!

I go for uber simple Jack in the Box Pro.
Pros: Hud so I can prim count - and connect to my package boxes etc Ability to switch between develop and store mode to amend parts of build and just repack the changed part not the whole thing for new updates. Really simple to use: Drop script to linkset, hit store on hud, take copy, wang in the box - done.
Cons: I can't really think of any.
In each rezzer package I have used - the format is always, making sure your linksets are robust, the parent prim highest up of the linkset, you have linked everything you need to and use a number system for sections, so you don't miss putting it in the rez box. That's the process I wish somebody could automate! Select a whole build with mouse, it will auto link it logically, and store it in a tidy box and name it - one day perhaps!

See this quite recent thread: /327/e2/306034/1.htmlOne difference that springs to mind is that rez-foo will do sim-sized builds; the unmodified Builder's Buddy will not. .

The reason that I'm asking is that I will incorporate Builders Buddy or any other similar utility into Prim Composer soon. I have the scripting ability to fix the problems with Builders Buddy and these will of course be released GPL.
But I need for folks to be as specific as possible about the deficiencies of Builders Buddy, so that I know what needs to be fixed.

From: Shack Dougall The reason that I'm asking is that I will incorporate Builders Buddy or any other similar utility into Prim Composer soon. I have the scripting ability to fix the problems with Builders Buddy and these will of course be released GPL. What? Builder's Buddy is not GPL at present, and to make it so would actually restrict it more than it currently is. For example, derivative products (perhaps Rez-Faux?) would be required to publish their code if they wish to incorporate any fixes you publish. Creating a GPL version would be a definite fork, and if you do so, please do update the wiki to indicate that's been done: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Builders_Buddy. These are the restrictions placed on it by its creator, Newfie Pendragon: From: someone * Use this script as you wish, to modify, sell, etc. * If you use this script in a for-sale product, please give credit to Newfie Pendragon as the creator of the script. * If you wish to modify this script and release the changes for public use, please submit changes to Newfie Pendragon. This is to ensure a consistent version numbering on releases, and to ensure changes are not wiped out in future releases. Here is its thread - toward the end you will find requests for changes etc. that have not yet been published. /54/2b/96792/1.html.
