I would most definately be interested in helping out on this project! One thing I really wanted to build in SL was a Tolkienesce evil wizards tower, complete with various scripts for added flavor hehe.

Anyways, I'm up for participating in this project ^_~.

I'd be very interested in joining such a community. I know there is the Darkwood too and I might like to join that as well... but I'd like to learn if there are differences in the vision behind these. Or maybe they'll become a combined effort?

I've already begun work on my own small ruined keep / tower (which is actually nearby to your castle Skeedalee... next to the big dark mountain / cave). Most likely many of the things I'll be building would be medieval-fantasy-themed anyway... so if there is a community for this starting up - all the better!

I would be intrested. I had a small village that was kind of themed towards that. It was a lot of fun. I had a water well, some gooses, three little shops. I had a awsome fire pit too.

I would be intrested and have $ to buy land and build. I would be intrested in a small shop, placing my fire pit out again.

the dark woods is awsome, but it is often empty( whenever I go anyhow), and due to themed community "resrtrictions" there is only so much room for adding on, and only so many objects you can have.

Darkwood is geared towards fantasy, which is different from midieval. I am posting here to address some issues, not take away in any way from a midieval theme project.

The pattern for darkwood is already set too, we don't really have room for towers or castles. Which I know detracts from the fantasy perhaps and brings it closer to midieval.

Jean, and others interested, check my DarkWood Revival post about small shop opportunities. And please visit Darkwood again. I am reactivating the project, and spending most of my time there for now, so stop by and say hello.

Not by any means. I have so many ideas and games I want to make it really isn't even funny. I could continue working on the arcade for the next year without running out of ideas.

What happened was (in the begining, before the Aracade).... exams! Not for me but for the majority of the darkwood team. This left me working alone for a couple of weeks. I finished the church, the graveyard and the common room of the inn before I just got lonely. So I explored the world and started my Arcade where there was more activity. I have a larger group of friends and more experience dealing with community efforts now. I have also waited long enough for our fearless leader to return from exams. It is my guess he got hit with some projects and finals pretty much in succession after midterm exams. I expect him back in a couple of weeks. Until then I have decided to get things rolling on the DarkWood again. The village currently has 4 buildings, at least 2 more people signed up. That leaves lots of room (about 10 spaces!). At least one of which I would like to be some sort of garden.

Ack! Sorry! I really am not trying to hijack this thread! Please anyone interested in Darkwood (there IS lots of activity there now, don't let anyone tell you different) please post in the revival thread!

dont let anyone tell you differnt? This was last week I stopped in three differnt days at all differnt times and there was not a single person there. They dont need anyone to tell them they just need to check it out and see that no one is there. I wasnt meaning to sound rude or anythign it was just the honest truth, okay maybe now all of a sudden you are there all the time, but from my experience it was very empty.

My apologies Jean, that statement was more or less random with absolutly no ones previous comments in mind when I said it. I said it exactly because it has been empty. I know this. It has been empty and at a stand still for about 3 weeks. I know. All I am trying to say is that, yes, suddenly I am there all the time. The project is active again. Hence the title of the other post 'Darkwood Revival'. I know full well it has lain dormant. I know no one has been there. Now it is not dormant: myself and at least 3 others (I think 5 actually) are working very hard on it. And I am actively recruiting more.

Yes it was innactive. It is not now. I was not targeting anyone or anything with my comment about not letting anyone tell you different. I put it in there because many people know it was dormant, and I was just telling everyone who reads not to believe anyone that now says its innactive - instead politely correct them and invite everyone over to have a look. :D

I began work on Darkwood again before this thread started by about a day and a half. I admit I wasn't going to post my revival thread as early as I did - I wanted to make sure the groundwork for the village was not only finished but that the village was actually started - but this thread did make me post a little early. I wanted to make sure everyone knew that even though the linden sponsered fantasy themed project had seemed dead, it was merely sleeping and had now awoken. It did not awaken in responce to this thread. I had no knowledge of this thread or the conversation with a Linden. In fact I still think there is a place in SL for both projects, because of the limitations with Darkwood at its current stage (most of the planning is done, no room for castles or wizard towers, mostly just room for the village and a couple specialty buildings).

My apologies to anyone I offended. If you thought the Darkwood project was innactive you were 100% correct. If you think it is still innactive you are 100% incorrect. :D Really no hard feelings and no one was intentionally targeted. Ok I gotta finish going through the boards so I can get back online. Please contact me online if you have any problems, issues, questions, complaints, curses, or anything. Or email me - sl at amaprotu dot net . See ya in world. :)

Id be down for bein in a community like that. I wanted to be in Darkwood but they already have a tavern. Id like to be a part of a themed community like that that doesnt have so many restrictions. Its nearly impossible to build anything with some nice content in the 4x4 plot.

Its a 6m * 6m plot which is over 325 square feet, per floor. :) And we have some nice ladders available for those without room for stairs. Yes it is limiting but I have been very pleasantly suprised with what people have done with their small space.

First off, since this word will probably be used a hundred times, you may eventually want to spell it properly.

"Medieval" = :)
and
"Mediaeval" = :cool:
but
"Midieval" = :(

- see Dictionary.com

As far as the project itself, I'd definitely be interested in lending a hand (or building beam, as the case may be)! Drop me an IM sometime and we'll swap calling cards.

Due to some recent discussions and upcomming (drastic) events for the established linden sponsored themes, I am actually trying to merge with you guys. So yes that last post is different. I have talked with skeedalee about it already, so please do talk with him.

The opportunity would give you guys the land and freedom some of you could not find in darkwood.

Speaking of Medieval, Darkwood is said to be dated approximately 18th century (1700s), so if this is the case, it's not quite Medieval, which is around 11th century to 15th century, but rather post-Renaissance. (Renaissance is 15th to 17th century).

I'm actually teaching English Lit right now, so you'll have to forgive me for throwing my two cents in. I never remembered this stuff before. :)
