I was going around to various lms when I encountered two landmarks where they used many pillars to create an object but, alas it had only 3 prims written at the edit window. I hope I made this clear to you otherwise it will be best to teleport you there... thank you

What is your question? I don't understand what your asking. Are you asking how something that looks complex only took three prims? If so, they are probibly sculptured, or even better textured very well.

Got a question, or were you simply reporting an observation?

Actually, you didn't ask anything. You posted a couple of statements, no questions. But now that you HAVE asked, let's get you your answer. What's the location of the object in question? Also, how about posting a screenshot, which could save us the time of having to go look?

Upload it to a third party hosting site such as imageshack.us or picoodle.com, and then post a link here.

From: Chiara Fierenza Chosen thank you so much... Hope I managed it... 1 object, 1 prim That is what is called a sculpted prim. Essentially, someone uses an outside program (A 3d modeler, or dedicated SL Sculpt program) to create a 3d model, with some limitations. Then, they export it to an image called a sculpt map, which uses the Red, Green, and Blue channels to denote the location of each part of the object. After this image is created, they import it into Second Life, and apply it to a prim via the Build Menu, changing the Prim Type to sculpted. Specifically, for that particular object, they may have started with a cube. Then, they could have shrank sections of it until they have a 0 width, making them invisible, and been left with the rectangular slats you see. To get the crosspiece, they simply rotate another piece, and place it as wanted. Common programs used for creating sculpted prims include well-known modelers such as Maya, Blender, and 3d Studio, as well as lesser known dedicated applications, such as Rokuro, SLoft (An in-world tool), and many more. For a bit more about them, as well as a relatively up-to-date list of supported applications for their creation, see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims

That is a sculpted prim. A prim of this nature is created with 3d software in or out of world and uploaded as a sculpt map texture that then changes a standard prim to a sculpted prim. Many objects in SL now are sculpted. If you see objects such as hearts, stars and statues are usually only 1 prim and this is done by a sculpted prim. Here is some more info on this subject if you would like to read up on it along with a video to understand how they work: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_PrimsTake Care, Knight
