I was thinking, while I was musing on the world of Who Framed Roger Rabbit... wouldn't it be neat if we had a themed Sim for a cartoon-like atmosphere? I'm talking truly wacky stuff... falling anvils, humongous mallets, silly sound effects... everything very bright and cartoony. We could have our very own Toon Town, filled with the gags of our childhood I mean, come on, who didn't like the Looney Tunes? They made me who I am today. I'm thinking it would be a very surreal, hyperactive, bright place. Suggestions/ideas/comments? Lordfly

Ive discussed at times wit some ppl inworld something like this. I was thinking a mix of everything fro the Flintstones to Oswald to Spongebob and bak to the Jetsons. THere could be some cool stuff in vibrant colors. Very exciting.

Well see in my vision of Toon Town, it wouldn't be using very many copyrighted things... like I don't want a Wile E. Coyote chasing the RoadRunner... but having Acme crates scattered around with rocket skates pouring out of them would be cool Basically, think of all the visual gags that accompany your childhood cartoons... that's what my vision of Toon Town is. Mark! A friend sent me a screencap of Planet Express. That rocks! Aurican and I were talking about it because he has a Bender av and I have Leela one. I love cartoony stuff. I think SL has a lot of potential for it

Sounds like a great idea.
It'd be cool if we could get cartoon versions of the voting/donation/info stations to add to the atmosphere of the sim. ;)

I'm dying to try my hand at creating "toon objects" like giant gloves and clown shoes... and "toon textures" for walls and things. I think this is a wonderful, wonderful idea!

Good to know I hit upon an interesting idea Although I haven't the faintest idea how to, er, appropriate a Sim for a theme. If anyone has any ideas or anything, lemme know in-game Lordfly

Erm... usually, you have to wait until the Lindens say, "OK, lets make more themed sims!" But I think someone did it once, made a themed sim out of time frame... I should know how to go about this, but I don't

Here's how to go about setting up a theme when there's no theme sims up for grabs: "Shhh, be vewy vewy quiet - we'we hunting land" Try Mocha - this sounds like a good fit for the theme park and the raceway may not be around forever. Plus, you'd be all set to open the Ralph Bakshi part of town when the new mature sims open to the north.

I've got transport tubes like on the Jetsons. I can donate the scripts to the project. Give these TeleTubes a try at the MegaTower and fly from 27m to 670m in a suction tube!

Nothing would be able to happen until after this month is over, but I love the idea and am interested in possibly donating land for the project. I'll contact you in the next couple weeks to discuss Lordfly.

Great idea, Lordfly -- and nice to see you inworld too. Are laws of physics in a dedicated Sim moddable? I know that "No Fly" can be set, but what about more elasticity so that all the wacky craziness that toons do can be closer emulated? Otherwise it seems kind of "plastic" and stiff to me. Also, I wonder if there will be any way in future versions to do dynamic visual (and even audio) filters on everything -- it might be pretty intensive, but it'd be a hoot seeing rotoscoped versions of ourselves, or all of us in black-and-white with film grain and crackly noises running across. Anyhow, I bet someone's gonna wanna make a Simpsons house in here Or Dr. Seuss stuff (if that hasn't already been done)... he he he... Mark: I gotta check out Planet Express, I'm a casual Futurama fan.

Anvils are a must but also lots of lit dynamite and possibly one of those backgrounds that repeats itself over and over when the toons run somewhere.

I had no idea that the Planet Express Building was in Perry... I'll be sure to check that out tonight. As a classic-gaming nut, I'm also a juvenile at heart so I'm happy to contribute whatever I can.
To that front: Audiosparx.com is a great low-cost site for downloading sound samples. They have a pretty robust selection of cartoon sound effects too.

A Toon themed sim would be way cool! Most of my inworld creations are on the cartoony side anyway. If this ever gets off the ground please let me know- I'd be happy to contribute!

I wandered all over Perry last night looking for the Planet Express Building. Was it moved? Can someone shoot me a Landmark in-game?
