You have to be the biggest liar to ever hit SL.
You were suspended for a very long time for making death threats. The manner of threat you made is a federal crime. I allowed the whole thing to drop considering your long suspension, and the fact that you have left me alone since returning. However, since you bring up the situation, and you claim ignorance, I can go ahead and send your whiney ass to jail. LL has assured me they have your threat on file and at any time I am welcome to have the proper authorities use it for the purpose of your prosecution.
I'm not going to tell you again Lance, I will have you arrested. I will disrupt your life in a way that will leave you wondering why you ever ran your stupid mouth over and over. I will prosecute you and you may go to jail. Leave me alone stalker boy.

HEY!!!
03-18-2004 13:43
this thread is about a possible CCG!! or, as it appears, a CGG.. heheh..

anyhoo, maybe there could be a seperate thread for this,
"Death threats and the people who don't know they made them" or something... but this is DEFINITELY NOT the place to bring this arguement.

Angel, try describing politely to Lance exactly what happened and when.. Lance, politely respond with your side of the story. if needed, maybe LL could supply both of you with a copy of these threats and maybe there's a perfectly logical explanation for all of this..

NOW...

..i'm really digging some of these ideas being floated around. i think an "official" card/gem smithers group is a great idea.. each creation could include a protected texture that serves as a designers "signature" to protect against fake creations..

edit: corrected a misspelling

I created the group "Gamesmiths" and send an invite to those whom thus far have expressed an interested in this forum. It is currently also set as open enrollment, however we probably should close that up once the initial founding has been complete.

Okay, slight update:

Cybin created a insigna for the group and I believe we have a concept for a ccg that would have timing that would be sane to program. However, I have not heard much from anyone else... Are we out there? Is there interest? :)

I just got back from Hawaii and start moving tomorrow. I don't know when I will be back online. :( Keep me on the list of interested though. :) I will help how I can, when I can.

Alondria, timing is indeed possible. It would need heavy work, but it is possible to make a "timing box" that would keep track of various timing rules. For example, to implement the "in response" M:tG system, you'd have the box wait for Player I to play a card, then it would say something to the box on a private channel, the box would then decide if the move was valid, tell all the cards what to do (i.e tell the card that was being attacked to llDie()) and then say "Player 2, it's your turn". Is this what you're talking about?

It is possible, but hard. Go for it.. I might stop in to help once in a while :P

Actually, one of the game concepts I have in mind don't have those pesty concepts such as instants and interrupts. I don't want to post the whole concept in a public forum, but maybe I'll write up the general gist and send out a notecard to group members.

Of course this does not mean other game concepts won't have more delicate timing issues, but for an initial product, I feel there is plenty of other "stumbling blocks" that we need to hurdle so removing the timing issue would not be bad. I feel our best bet would be have the game rules and the card mechanics as seperate scripts so we can re-use the actual, more physical/mechanic, scripts for all game projects (i.e. the code to handle the concept of a "deck" and movement of cards, etc....)

Anyways, I think we need to come up with some sort of system to assist in organization of the groups, since our "in world" time seems to be unsycronous. Any suggestions?

I've already started work on a simple version of a game. Right now I have a script that shows HP above a monsters head, the points can be deducted from and added to at will, and when the points hit zero the monster yells out in defeat and a particle explosion occurs. I have a preliminary gameplay concept that relies heavily on dice, but I only have 2 monsters made. What I would like from you guys is to make a monster and send it to me. It doesn't need to be very detailed, but it needs to look good. Now if there are some of you who are realy ambitious and want to make EXTREMELY detailed monsters, please IM me before you start because I have special instructions for you. When you send them please make them copyable, modifyable, and tradeable. Please don't make the monsters overly large or microscopic and also provide your name suggestion as the object name when you send it. Once I get enough mosters I'll post the official rules/instructions for gameplay. I'll also probably be holding an event to show case it. I'd like to thank you all in advance and wish you good luck and happy building!

Well, I have a large space that about 20 people can fit in (sitting in my observatory chairs). If you can get a time/date, you can use my place. I can build a quick rezzing/dissertation stage if you like. My parcel is in Boardman, at 222/238.

Ok this is what needs to be done-

Final special effects- Someone is working on the script

Game/Monser Balancing- I do that as I get new monsters
by playing test matches

Monster creation- I want to have at least 50 monsters
when I open the game to the
public, as of this posting
there are 7

Game name- This will be the final touch, as of
now I'm using "Monster Fortress",
suggestions are appreciated

Game rules- Always being updated, but I do
have a rough draft that I will post
here within the next few days

Test matches- Once I post the rules I will be doing
test matches in Cordova, if you
participate please note that once
the game is released all monsters
will be marked, so test match
monsters will become void

I think that covers most of it, like I said, I'll be posting the rules with in the next few days

Hi guys. All of this sounds very interesting and exciting! If you are still looking for members of your Group and helpers with this and other projects I would absolutely love to join and help.

I don't have much general scripting exerience, but have a good understanding of LSL. I have made 1 boardgame, and am working on my second with a few more on the way. (my first one is called Hexxagon, and is on my land "Rubio Studios" in Hooper if you want to check it out.

Anyway, I'm a fan of Yugioh, and this whole game idea is definately something I'd love to be involved with. I'll message you guys later tonight (at work now). So hopefully we can catch up then.

Nibarlan - two questions.

1) is this supposed to be your own game or a GameSmiths game?

2) where can i see what current monsters look like? (so i have an idea of what to aim for if i try my hand at it)

Extra scripting - special attacks?
03-31-2004 08:26
If you need anymore scripting for the Monster Fortress Game, let me know. I'd like to look into the whole concept of 'special attacks'. Are these going to be scripted?
Not only in the form of effects, but also the scripting for specific reduction in health or other 'state changes'.

Later on this can be build upon to create special states like curses, diseases etc. Whatever is neccessary. But it's a good idea to think of a general 'scripting' framework to build these attacks in. E.g. a general script like the health script, but possible to adapt for certain situations.

Cybin, this is my game not a gamesmiths game, but everyone in gamesmiths gets free membership to Official Fotress Coalition(I'm makin it so you have to register to the group before you can start buying the pieces, that way finding someone to battle would be as easy as sending an IM) Damanios I've been using the basic health script you made for the health display for everything(the fortress and monsters); Justice Monde wrote a script for attacks that has it set so you say like "Monster atk" and the monster shoots its attack out, then when you say "endturn" the attack turns off. I think you need to look at it, because it's realy confusing to me.

Yep very interested -- I could throw into the building pot, as my scripting skills are pretty lowly..

I have helped design and playtest a few (minor) games in the past though, so maybe I could help out a lil in that department too.

I'll try and get a hold of you in game -- I work a pretty strange shift and it's hard to get hold of me sometimes :)

Siggy.
