We will discuss rules and regulations after we secure financing and finish construction of the building. It will probably be a majority decision between the three owners.

We have decided to move the Multiplex to Jessie. We currently have 1 floor almost complete. Everyone is invited to come and see. Talk to me in world if you would like to buy or rent space. Please fly in a little high cause the building is elevated offf the ground.

1 floor 1700 lindens a month

Hey I might be up for this. Once I get inworld I am going to start working on some building designs of my own. If ya want we can interconnect them all with a skywalk. This way most of us don't need to go over our limits and still keep the design connected. Just my idea.

This past week I have been designing some building designs in Flash, it is much easier to connect lines and delete them in flash, than any other program. That is the reson why I use it. Still need to learn 3DS Max.

We are located right beside cyanide leviathans bunker were he sells guns. We are up in the sky so you will have to look. As for members you would have to ask James. If you want to build in Sky City please contact James.

Unfortunately due to the lack of intrest we have decided to halt construction and to close. Thank you to anyone who expressed intrest. Hopefully we may rebuild after 1.2 comes out. James is currently trying to build the CN Tower so if anyone is is intrested in that contact him. I still hope to build a fully functioning stock exchange. So if you are intrested in that contact me. Would that be a numbers game or some kind of actual SL business stock exchange with L$ involved in trades of some kind? Do you also plan some kind of SL version of the FTC and SEC?

First i would appreciate if anyone could positively tell if it is feasible.Then i would like to know if anyone would be intrested in funding such a large scale project. Then I want to form a oversight group after the exchange is set up. If anyone has any useful ideas or scripts it would be appreciated.

I'm sure such a thing is possible at some scale but do you intend to ask SL businesses to make public offerings of stock which people will buy with L$ and which those businesses will use to expand and operate eventually paying L$ dividends to shareholders or losing value? Or would it be imaginary stocks traded for fun as a subgame of SL? If the former this would require a lot of effort on the part of businesses that wish to participate. Also, and this doesn't affect the feasibility of the actual exchange, there's no real trustworthy bookkeeping mechanism in SL, no way to ensure accurate accounting practices, and no foolproof contract system.

Also, I think it would be advisable to form the oversight commitee before the exchange is set up.

My question is this. If its in Jessie. Whats to stop people from shooting people in that place to start with?

The exchange would not be located in Jessie. We would put it in a city type atmosphere. Like Neo Tokyo. It is better to first build the exchange and then create an oversight board. Yes I would like to have SL companies be traded on the exchange. Stock transactions would be in linedens. The exchange would have a comprehensive information database that would chart companies performance. If anyone is intrested in funding, scripting, or building let me know. Any person who significantly contributes will get a cut of first year pofits and a spot on the oversight comission and board of trustees. Thank you for your intrest.

Before we ever open. Or i should say if we ever open i would gladly write procedures, rules, and penalty guidelines. To get this project off the ground i will need funding and lots of it, the best sctipters in the game, and the best builders in the game. I will be out of sl till december, 22 or till after they release 1.2 .

I'm sure this is the case but do you realize all the information going into that database will be based on pure trust that the businesspeople involved will give accurate and truthful information? I have my doubts about a financial transaction system based entirely on people's word.

How do you plan on enforcing these? Will you include a banlist in the exchange code that refuses transactions to people who violate the rules? What kind of penalties do you have in mind and how will they be administered?

Also, will all the scripts governing the exchange be published so the public can examine them or will that be reserved for those who pay to be on the board of trustees?

The oversight board will govern the day to day operations of the exchange. They will investigate insider trading and give their conservative opinion about company values after a company files on the exchange. A oversight memeber would be someone with a business background and scripting knowledge. The board of trustees would govern the exchange. The board would consist of heavy contributors ( as in funding, scripting and building ) and it would consist of the exchange ceo and his board of directors. The oversight commitee would nominate and vote on the intial board of trustees. The board of trustees would then elect a ceo for a lifetime term. All board of trustee memebers including the executive staff would have lifetime terms ( except if the oversight commitee impeaches and kicks out any board of trustees member) The board of trustee can fire the ceo and any member of the executive staff. The exchange would earn money by stock commisions and listing fees. 60% of revenues would go to group members. Members would also get to trade on the exchange for free. If you are not a member then you would have to pay a onetime 50L fee.

But, uh, what's the punishment? What's to stop me hyperinflating my company's stock, then selling high and raking in cashloads? What's to prevent insider trading? Stock fraud?

You don't have linden powers, so the stock exchange would collapse within, oh, five minutes.

Sorry, but unless there's REAL punishment, the stock exchange is a no go.

fraud in SL is a crime. The lindens would judge it like fraud. Like i said the Oversight Commission would investigate and report the evidence to the lindens.

Just a suggestion:

Make this into a GAME. Give participants fake money or something, and have a fake stock market. This will at least make it easier for people to be honest about earnings since real L$ isn't involved.

Have a leader board for "richest investor", some system of showing stock prices and charts in game, etc., etc.

This would be really cool if it was a game that didn't involve real L$, IMO...

I think Garoad hit it on the head. Make it fake money and fake companies. Add some flavor to their backgrounds and business, stage mergers and scandals, issue press releases for new products and services, make it fun. I can't think of anything that would stand in the way of a stock game and it's a unique idea that no one has done in SL. But like Lordfly said, a "real" SL business stock exchange would die screaming within minutes even if it could get started.

The title is pretty much self expalnitory. If it was a game then how would people win? I dont know were i would start. First thing is frist though i would like to get some people together in world after the holidays. I would like to set up the group. Then we can vote on plans. If we can get linden support then a real exchange is possible. If not then we can do a game. If anyone is intrested in getting together then post on this thread.
